Another New Dark Sider

So you never break the speed limit, ever?

I don't understand what it matters, yes i do but i feel safe when i do because i have the right tyres on. I don't care what you do on your bike or how fast or slow you ride . This is my opinion on my bike for how i ride and i agree with a earlier post a car tyre on the rear won't help your stopping power in normal situations . If your car tyre was so good for normal town or country riding they would use them on a race track because it would help them too . The only exception i see is drag racing in a straight line maybe. I don't care for the P1ssen contest its just my opinion.;)

I certainly wouldn't advise someone to start of with a heavy trailer like mine which has had few mod cons added the same trailer without any extras ie the bare basic trailer without the annex (large room) and awning on the other side or any luggage or any other camping gear weights in at about 180kg from memory, Mal (the kiwi) bought one and has had no trouble adapting his riding style as far as I know but he is a bit more sensible rider than me:)

just a dumb idea but anybody ever thought of mounting electric brakes on trailer like it is done on travel trailers ,considering the weight ratio vs the available braking on the bike it might mitigate the required force applied on the bike's brakes

quote="Rocken C, post: 223519, member: 4668"]The resin I decided to try a car tire was 3 fold. When coming out of Uvalde TX I was run off the road not once but twice buy 2 different dumb a** texting on there phones. Both of them put me on the shoulder and I wasn't doing but about 70 mph. Then the last week on a little county road that is only about 3 miles from my house I got run of the road out into a plowed flied buy another dumb a** texting his wife. He almost wrecked his truck going off into the field that I was in. All three times I needed new shorts. All 3 times the back tire was locked up trying to slow down in a panic stop and trying to get the h**l out of the way. All 3 times they where 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. I have been riding scene 1986 and wore out a couple of bikes over the years including a few dirt bikes along the way (have a KLX 300 as well). The rocket just dose not like to slow down that fast when breaking (weight?) I love the Rocket, it goes nicely just dose not stop as good. I haven't got that many miles on the car tire but I will assure u that it accelerates way harder with he C/T and stops the beast much better in a panic stop. I went back where I was run off the road near the house. Tried it again (mines the truck trying to kill me) and was able to stop in about 30 feet shorter without locking up the rear tire with no sliding wiggling or dirty shorts. Yes I would of still had to go off road in all 3 situations but don't think I would of locked up the rear. To each his own. The monetary difference had nothing to do with my personal chose. $100.00 or $500.00 it dose not mater, just want to be able to stop the beast when needed without the a** trying to slide out. Had the rider education and understand that 80% or more of the breaking power comes from the front due to weight transfer. The Rocket Touring is just a little heavy in the back. My experiment with the C/T still has a way to go. But at present it just out does the factory tire by far.

Thank you for your comments and opinions. I'm not trying to cause folks to get up set. Just voicing my personal experience and opinion. If there are any Captions In south TX (Corpus Christi) area with MC tires lets get together and do some stop/handling/acceleration testing.[/quote]
Hey dude the only thing I see differnet her is you went back with a car tire and tried something you know would happen all things being the soame my bet is you would do just as good with a bike tire knowing the same circumstances. This means your a pretty good rider no matter what fricken tire you had on.

Hey it does not matter what tire is better if you know what your doing. other then that you do get better mileage with a car tire even if its on a car!!!!

But gay ferkers think there life style is better do you promote that also :)
Just farken around so do not take it so personal !!!

No I don't promote homosexual relation ships. Don't care what they do as long as they leave my a** alone lol. Been married to my loving wife for to long to care about/or want to try another relationship especially that kind! Don't know how this pertains to the subject mater but ok you brought it up. I am just another strong back trying to make it in a broke back world. Its a sh*ty deal sometimes lol

Never mind the other people on the road, animals crossing the road and hazards in the road, oh yeah they have none of those at the track. When expressing an opinion it shoudl have something to do with the actual subject matter.

If that were true we would not be reading about car tires on a motorcycle forum

ACTUALLY a car tire will slow u down in the 1/4 mile

Well.....stir the pot here

I love my car tire and my M/C tire.....I run both...I finally got a second rim and put a Bridgestone on. The M/C tire is a little easier on me riding the mountains here in NC. I am not as young as I use to be...

Art..I know you are the expert here on fast rockets....But what M/C tire are you running that is faster than a good sticky car tire on your monster. Unless you have traction control on your bike. I have never seen a Pro stock bike run a M/C tire

With no more HP than my bike has...it will spin the rear M/C tire most of the way through second and half way through 3rd gear. With the car tire it will carry the front end up in second and part of 3rd gear.......That was with the Metz tire..I have not cranked on the Bridgestone tire yet

Dave...the tires on a GP or F1M will NOT run on the streets...There are totally useless ...Those tires are made to run on a track and must be up to temperature to have any grip level with the track rubbered in.
