Another Exhaust Thread (Vandemon Headers) with Installation Pictures

I wonder if using Vandemons headers would give any extra clearance to the "drag link" or whatever it is hitting? Maybe they design in a small bit of length or something to account for that? No way to squeeze a piece of heat resistant silicone rubber between them? Amazon.com

I have thoroughly investigated the situation and nothing can be moved or slipped in without misaligning everything else including the connection to the headers. I should probably send all that to Vandemon so they can adjust their design.

I must say that this exhaust is louder than I expected, even stock to aftermarket side by side YT videos don't convey what one actually gets. Maybe the size of the cans implies a tamer sound but don't get me wrong, I love it. Of course all that racket emanating more or less directly below my ears calls for earplugs which I normally wear anyhow, but skipped them on this maiden voyage to get the full experience. I flashed the Penner tune a few months ago and even with the then still stock exhaust the decel pops sounded more aggressive. Now it sounds outright evil with all the other noises that emanate from the beast which were silenced before.
I went back and re-tightened the clamps since last night before heading out and also checked on the upper center mount where the pipe contacts it from the left and there is nothing I can do about that. I'm pretty sure that curved piece is actually plastic so we'll see how that goes and eliminating it is probably not a good idea. I'll find out if my rear tire will come off without removing the right muffler when it's time for a tire change.

After having had 30 (or so)High performance bikes and having changed every exhaust system in all, I've found several truths!
First, unless major changes are made to the AFR..the performance is worse than stock.
second, the mounting system is NEVER as good and secure as stock. As far as looks are concerned....to each his own. Sound is far better but with the R3....I'"m leaving it stock. Too old !!

That's my plan for now. I'm actually enjoying a quiet bike for a change.
