Another dealer bites the dust...

As I understand it they are trying to eliminate small dealerships. My dealer is small and they have been told to pick it up. When I bought my scooter they told me when I fill out the survey to please answer positive. They had been under the microscope for closing just because they are small. I guess Triumph is trying to do away with the mom and pop dealerships is the way I took it? Mom and Pop are usually some of the best, and more personal, but is bigger better?
 
The small dealer I bought my '07 from
Deep South cycles, Hattiesburg Mississippi
closed a few years back.
After the recent fire at the dealers here in Tulsa,
Triumph pulled their dealer status.
Now, the closest dealer is in Oklahoma City again.
No complaints with the dealer there,
they did a great job replacing my rear end when the output shaft bearing went out,
it's just a bummer to have to go that far IF ya need a part or service.
 

If this dealer in Kalamazoo doesn't prove themselves a little different to me I have to change. The problem with that is that the closest is in Detroit which is 4 hours. Then they may not be so hot either, its a gamble too. Just not a bunch of dealerships around. There is one in Traverse City but they told me when I was looking that they don't stock touring models or big bikes. Posses a different question as well. They too are around 4 hours away. Need a part, drive 8 hours or order it. Hmmm.

Thats what is going on here in Europe as well. They do open Flagship and worldstores and the small dealers are either not invited to go that route or can`t take it.
My dealer was one of the very first Triumphdealers in Germany and has a relatively small building. They had to rearrange everything in the building to make the required area to stay a dealership. Tehy had a large section for clothing (non Triumph) which they had to illiminate.
They were 'offered' to open a new store with bigger area some 35 km away which they did. They are now in their mid 50ties and wonder wether they can get their investment back. Triumph goes down the same route like Audi or VW or BMW.

Harley, btw, does this since a long time. Had a HD dealer just 4 km away who was - for German standards - a big one, but they failed to sell the required number of bikes for 1 year and HD ended their contract.
 
The first Triumph dealer I went to was Capital Area Triumph in Central PA. I was just about to purchase a rocket from them when I got a better deal from Hermy's in Port Clinton. Shortly after that I found out that Capital Area closed down! Hermy's has been decent to me and havent gouged me too much on stuff. I did hear that a new dealer opened in Camp Hill so I will have to check them out.

I think it would have bugged me a bit to purchase the Rocket and then find out that a month later the dealer closed.
 
I don't need a dealer. I do all the work on my machines and get the parts on the internet. never used a warranty. I still ride my Norton. The whole company went out. gary
