ABS saved my bacon

Hi all, had a female cage turn left, right in front of me. Lucky for me, I was only going around 30/35 mph. She looked right at me, and slowly turned, I couldn't believe it. Grabbed all the front and rear brake I could, and the Rocket chirped the rear a few times, and stopped just a few inches from her passengers door. And of course, she kept on, like nothing had happened. Thank you Triumph for my ABS system.

It never fails to amaze me when they look you right in the eye and still pull out on you. You know if you had hit her, she would have cried and claimed it was your fault because she didn't see you.

I hear ya. After the rear tire locked on me, I swore the next Rocket will have ABS. It's well worth the money.

Remember when ABS was first showing up in cars, and people were panicking about the pedal shudder and noise. This is my first ABS motorcycle, and the first time I had to do a panic stop. Believe me, I now swear by ABS!

Well, in the past, being an old fart, (63), I always hated anything that interfered with the controls of a vehicle. Remember when ABS was first showing up in cars, and people were panicking about the pedal shudder and noise. This is my first ABS motorcycle, and the first time I had to do a panic stop. Believe me, I now swear by ABS!

ABS in the front definitively a life saver (lock the front and down you go instantly although very hard to do on regular asphalt)
. lock the rear ..well nothing much happens since all the effective braking is done from the front so the rear wheel lock up hear a screeching noise but makes hardly a difference unless your better half is on the pillion then agreed the rear will shorten stopping distance and if she is of the heavy kind so much the better otherwise if riding solo well maybe a foot and a half saved ...at best

Glad to hear that it worked out. I have an older Rocket so no ABS. I can see the advantage of having it.

Sounds like he didnt have a foot and a halfe to play with... very close indeed.
A good result - I love the ABS - Dont use it often but I know its there...

C-TWO managed to stop a couple of inches from her door, so a foot and a half at the best saved him some serious injurys, if not for that rear brake he would have been 16inches inside the car, ride correctly guys and always FART

I don't know about that bud. When I had to avoid a crash at 70MPH one time on my 07 Street Glide, the rear end started to fish tail when the rear wheel locked up. Luckily I had the sense to get back off of the rear or I think it might have gotten ugly.
