ABS light

Hi All
I changed the rear tyre on my Roadster this week. Without wanting to go in to too much detail during the process I removed the brake disc and the ABS ring from the wheel.
Now reassembled ,the ABS light will not go out, any suggestions?
Does the ABS ring need to be a specific way round?

Sorry Paul I cant help you (dont have ABS) but any time you take a disk off you should put a wax caron mark (off the disk surface ofcourse) on the hub and disk to help locate it back on properly and I would imagine it is just as imprtant with the ABS, you could look for corisponding marks on ring and hub etc.

Check to see if you may have bent the abs ring ever so slightly while removing/reinstalling it. If it isn't true and consistently spaced from the sensor head, you will continue to get an ABS malfuntion light.

I just pulled my rear wheel off to change the tyre, rang the bike shop and they told me to leave the ABS ring and the brake disc on the wheel! I will watch them i think
I was going to powdercoat the rims - but next time!!!!!

Got the tyre fitted by Springwood Suzuki, They did not want the disc or ABS ring removed...... $22 later.....Fitted back onto the R3R and all good, no problems with ABS at all.
I took my Shocks of and jacked the bike up till the tyre was just comming off the ground then took it off, once free i jacked it right up to get the wheel out. Just did the reverse putting it back on but also put the Molly 60 on it that I got from Skip.

I know a lot of guys have powder coated their wheels and I've thought about it myself. Mentioned it at work the other day and was told not to do it because it can chip off quite easily especially when tyres are being fitted and over time can look quite bad. It was suggested to me that a better option is just to paint them because it looks just as good and is much easier to touch up. Must say I'm fine with painting - painted my radiator grill, have retouched it once in 2 years and it still looks great. Cost about $8 in total to do.

So, a bit off topic I know, but as Mittzy raised it, I'd be interested to know what the experience has been with powder coated wheels (and/or painted ones for that matter).

Was Told the Same but was suggested to me that to have them done in Polly-Urethane not sure if that is correct spelling but it is a lot tougher and resists chipping

Ive had a few things made out of poly urathene. It is a very good wearing product but how does the application process apply to the bike rims.

Hey guys,
I to looked into the whole powdercoating or painting process and in the end I had my spare set of rims recond and painted.
I am more than happy with the results.
The guys at Home did them and they came out amazing. The rims I took them had some minor marks and scratches so they cnc machine them with great results.
They look like brand new..
They are still sitting on the floor in the garage waiting till I wear out the set of tyres still on the bike.
If any one local wants to look and talk about them I'm more than happy to show ya.
