Hi guys, I hope his is the right spot to ask

I have a question about the ABS light.

It does all the right things when the bike is turned on, lights up on start up then over 10kmph it turns off.

But when it gets over 80-100kmph it comes on and most of the time stays on.
But what bugs me is my mate jumps on and it doesn't happen now the only thing between us is he is about half my size and weight.
I've checked tyre pressure bumped it up to 38 and 42 I thought maybe that would have thrown a fault with the sensor riding heavy load, but still happens.

Was wondering if this has happened to anyone?

Had the dealer I bought it off (not triumph dealer) had a look said there technician borrowed diagnostic tool and it said no faults came up, dunno if I put much weight in that if it keeps up will take it to Triumph tech

Cheers in advance

Before any other cheeky bastard chips in let me do the honour -- get down to your mates weight and see if it still does it:D
Cannot think of anything else, is your riding style the same, are you dragging your rear brake? Not sure if worn pads or low fluid would cause the light to come on I doubt it.

Haha I'd have to lose more than weight to drop down to his, and I'm pretty attached to my limbs.

Yea I figured a trip to triumph tech was in order just thought I'd throw it out there

Does the ABS work ? Try locking up the rear wheel at 20 to 30 mph.
What setting is your rear shocks on , maybe if they are bottoming out you are pinching the ABS sensor wire somewhere , or the wheel is hitting the underside of the mudguard and the sensor is picking up a sudden change of wheel speed ? Try setting your rear shock preload to max and see if the problem goes away ? If not , try cleaning the sensors and ABS rings . Also as scot mentioned , are you dragging the brake causing everything to get too hot ? Keep us informed !

I know scot in exile touched on it and I took it as a given , but HAVE you checked the fluid levels ? this would seem an obvious solution after a thought or two . If your mate is half your weight , then the bike would not pitch rearward so much under acceleration and speed , as a result of that , the fluid level in the master cylinder would read higher for him as it would for you ! Just a thought , but if the ABS light is operating correctly as it does seem to be , and no code threw up , fluid level is probably the culprit ?

if the light comes on it has a code.
sometimes i have a $36 code reader that will read codes that my $4000 scanner will not read. it is not uncommon that we will try to use several diff scanners and get diff results.
sensors will go bad, may be damaged with tire change. bracket may be bent. bad bearings will cause the sensor to rub or move to far away to read proper.
u need to get the tunecu set up to read the codes it may give a front or rear sensor code.
i would set on it with the front brake on and rock the bike while some one watches the wheel for movement then do the same for the rear.

Have your mate sit on the bike and closely look around the brakes and ABS wiring...Then you sit on the bike and have him give a big look around. Not the same set of eyes, but something may jump out. Maybe take some pictures and compare. Check all of the above mentioned comments. The ABS is seeing something different with you.

I would put the bike on a jack and rotate the wheels looking at the ABS rings to see if they are bent. Have you changed a tyre recently? - those rings are pretty soft and easy to damage, the weight thing is a bit of a stretch I think.
