ABS light always on

While riding the other day I noticed the ABS light on for the whole ride, I checked all that I could and noticed the small hose that comes up from the ABS rotor was pinched near the steering pivot just before it goes under the tank. I found that when the dealer set up the bike he didn't put the small hose through the cable holder on the fork neck so the hose must have moved and when I parked the bike the night before and turned the handlebars it pinched it in the pivot. The hose isn't broken so I squeezed it to round it out again and disconnected the battery to see if it cleared but it didn't work. Anyone have any ideas before I go to a dealer, the dealer I bought it from last year just closed after 35 yrs., The brakes work fine I just don't think the ABS is working, it's a 2013 Roadster.

same happened to me Jeff, although think I might have caused the problem.Took it back to the dealers and they cut and rejoined the line, only took few minutes. Heat welded a sleeve over the join.
And no it makes no diff to the brakes, not sure if the ABS still works tho, but I can take or leave the ABS anyway

Easy way to find out if the A.B.S. is working, ride down the street and stand on the back brake. My light did the same thing and the A.B.S. wasn't working but my problem was after riding 600klm in the rain had it to the shop twice they just wriggled wires and gined around. I think it dried out and fixed itself. That was 18 months ago no drama since.

ABS System

As Bruce said the ABS system works in conjunction with the braking system. When the ABS light is on 99% of the time it's not functioning. And if the system needs to be reset or bled down, it needs special tools.

Show the cable to the Triumph Dealer, I'm sure they will repair it even if the bike is out of warranty, (If the PDI assembly was botched). If the bike is under warranty, you are home free.

Hope the dealer is not to far from you. Maybe a good time to make new friends with the service department.

Jeff, I encountered the same problem on my n2012 Roadster. The tube I believe you're referring to is actually a two wire sensor wiring harness that is encapsulated in plastic tubing and is attached to the front break fluid tube with plastic clips. I found the pinched section actually pinched and cut the wires inside. So I had to splice each wire to its mate (white to white, blue to blue) using but splices, and I relocated the wires to the lower side of the plastic side cover so they wouldn't contact the pinch point anymore. No more abs light. Hope this helps.

A mechanic friend explained how ABS worked on cars and he thinks the same idea on bikes, he said it is a magnetic signal from both wheels that the computer reads to see a difference in rotation, so you must be right about the wires inside the tube. wsrvr, you said the ABS light went off, did the ABS work after that ?

i work on cars and i see the speed sensor wires damaged. for exsample when some one just through a spare tire on the car it cuts the wire. then you have a code which brings on the abs light. you may have to raise the tank to have enough room to repair wires.
if your gauges are in the way when you raise the tank you can take out the back bolt and shift tank to rear so you can clear gauges and then put bolt back in then you can use tank prop.
you may need to clear codes after you are finished.

I cut open the covering and the white wire was cut, I then cut the blue wire slipped on some shrink tube and reconnected the wires. The light went out but the weather was bad so I haven't tried the ABS yet.
