Here's an idea. Get a $7 bluetooth microphone that connects to your phone. Try taping the mic in various locations and see where the sound is loudest.

That’s a great idea! Mine likes to “cruise” at around 3k in whatever gear that happens to accomplish that. 2-2.5rpm is almost in lugging along territory. Not good.
