30,000 Mile Service

Yup, just had the 30k-mile service done on my R3T for $650 total. Valves included.

My 10,000 mile service ran me about $600 including valve adjustments, new oil and air filters, etc. Dealer said 20,000 mile service should be about half that since no valve adjustment is called for. I am in the Dallas-Ft Worth area just as an FYI...

Paid around $250 for 20k service, but I supplied my own oil and filter. I think 30k includes valves so probably up to double that would be reasonable.

I gotta say, I bought my bike new and asked these questions ahead of time. I factored in scheduled maintenance and other costs (farkles) when considering which bike to buy.

I know that some dealers offer a "pre-paid" maintenance service, where the buyer would pay a certain amount (say $1500) at the time of purchase and the first 4 services were covered. Maybe I should've done that, but I travel a lot and have had the initial and subsequent 10K-mile services done at different Triumph dealers.

Still, I knew ahead of time that the 10K-mile services would cost anywhere between $350 and $700. And that's what it has cost me.

To be fair, the other bikes that I considered (Kawasaki Nomad, HD SuperGlide, etc.) came with related associated costs, so I'm not surprised at all.

I really haven't considered doing the work myself for several reasons, the least of which relates to time constraints and laziness.:D

There, I said it...

I let the dealer do my first and 10k service just to simplify things while under warranty. I've been doing it all myself since then especially since they always messed something up that I had to go back and fix anyway.

Not necessarily. I paid something like that and after a year and one service my dealer went out of business. The parts manager, who was losing his job, did give me 4 gallons of Mobil 1 4T, several oil filters and a set of brake pads, but I still came out on the short end of that stick.

Thanks for all the information. Local dealer quoted me about $600-650 for everything, but I wasn't sure if that was a fair price. Doesn't sound like it is too far off.
