I had a 2024 r and it came with three keys. The fob, a plain key, and a key with a chip that could start the bike when held against the left rear panel. I liked that option since was easier than carrying a fob. I bought a new 25 GT yesterday and I only got the fob and the plain key. No chip key. Have any other new owners got the same thing?

Haven't heard of a plain key before. Normally they come with a smart key (FOB) and two passive keys. Do you have a picture of the "plain" key next to the passive key?

There are two passive keys, at least for my 2024 R. One is simple, all black with chrome blade, the other had the Triumph logo in silver. With that one you could place the key near the antenna on the left side to turn the bike on.

what good would a key w/o a resistor be for
is there stuff on the bike that uses just the key?

I just bought my 2025 R3 gt last week and it only came with one passive key aswell. I just tried it and it works. Best way to find the sensor is to put you middle finger at the beginning of the left side panel and make your thumb spread apart towards the back of the bike as much as you can (about 5 or 6 inches) and where your thumb lands just below the seat is where the sensor is. Kinda glad I seen this post because I thought I was missing a key.

There's also a pair of bumps under the tail to indicate the correct location.
