2007 Clutch Upgrade

MTC clutch plates are the ONLY way to go. Check them out. Way more contact area, I have a set of Barnetts, they make pretty lil decorations on the wall in my man cave.

I just use the MTC last week or so just got in from a nice 200 mile ride and I think they are great they looked better than stock as well so I have to say I like them there made in FL to I think they were well worth what they cost 162.00 for them and new stiffer springs

I don't have one yet, but plan to install the MTC clutch basket as well. A very solid unit, that takes a lot of abuse. Ask Warp, he runs one, MTC clutch plates too.

Ok here is the way things go as far as I know and unitl soemone takes a tourer model apart I will not be able to tell if the silver motors offered in 06 thru 07 are left overs or not. One way to tell is the clutch the other would be the type of cam blade that is used on the tensioner side.
The Triumph clutch was chaged in 06 I know this because I have a 06 Ckassic model abd it has the newer style clutch plate.
Below are some pictures and what I know of clutches.

2010 changes in the lifter piece which is the head diamter. I believe this was a great move as it reduces the lifter piece from wallering around in the lifter shaft. I also figure it stops some of the lifter rattling people hear int he clutch.

I've been waiting for you to chime in, mate, so I could ask this. I have the first R3 registered in Canada and supposedly about number 12 off the line so I can safely assume that I have the old style clutch. I maintain the correct free play and do not rev the motor in gear with the clutch held in. However I don't want to head to Colorado in June with suspect parts as I already have about 80,000kms on the bike! If I were to update the clutch pieces which parts would be replaced? The lifter shaft, bearing and wave washer along with a new pressure plate?

Your lifter shaft might be fine and the rest your right but hey if it aint broke I would wait until you have a reason to take her apart.

OK . . the bike is listed as an 07. BUT we ran the numbers and it looks like early 06 motor. Its silver. It definitely has the old style lifter piece and flat needle bearing. Clutch plates themselves are not bad and I have an extra set I took out of mine when I put in the Barnett. Ive ordered the new lifter piece, late model pressure plate and bearing . . and wavy washer. Also ordered the new lifter shaft. As far as I know the only difference was those pieces.

Molinoman . . yep, still me, still the same bike although I am looking at a new FB6 Goldwing I will keep the Rocket.
