2.5 using oil

Just making sure- when you said gaskets did you mean o-rings? There is no gasket between the parts, but maybe there should be. I've put in several hundred miles on the new o-rings and holding (for now, anyway).

Sorry, O rings, I stand corrected. Just did the job yesterday- a little finicky to get the sensor aligned, but really easy job altogether. The old O rings were definitely stiffer than the new ones.

I have a bag of those 0'rings and would have sent you some. Yeah, the old ones in mine were pretty stiff too. Hoping Triumph used some inferior materials there and the new ones hold up much better. I still have no leaks with my replacements.

A few hundred miles later and no leaks, o-rings are holding up.
I've lost about 5mm of oil on dipstick over around 500mi, but then again everything "uses" some oil. As I mentioned here Post in thread '2.5 using oil' 2.5 using oil there are no obvious signs. Since I got the Penner tune I've been riding it a bit harder than before so that's probably a factor.

I changed the O rings and put a few hundred miles on the bike without any leak. Easy fix thanks to the good people of this forum!! Thanks!
 
May bike is at 12, 600 miles, just for the asking, I am about to have the oil and filter changed and coolant replenished, it was serviced at 10K, bike is garage kept and ridden lightly, but, do I need to have the valve adjustment done or just wait until 20K? I ride it to and from my job which is 20 miles a day when the weather is good ( Live in the southern rockies area). I have a local guy that works on euro bikes and has a killer shop, as my Triumph dealer is 3 hours away.
 
Valve check intervals are every other service or 20,000 miles. There should be no need to check yours at 12,600. I would leave it another 10 K.
 

You're good to go until 20K.

What is not on the maintenance schedule, but should be, is the need to lube the splines at the final drive. At 12K I'd want that done. You'd be in "good company" (i.e. lots of others) to ignore it, but all shaft drive bikes need this done. Look for these to start going out, if neglected, once more of these bikes start racking up miles. Ask your local mechanic about it. I have a DIY post IF you're interested.

It's leaking again so I'll be doing this once more. Since @Journeyman sent me an extra pair of o-rings I'll use those and this time I'm using goop on the flat surfaces of the gear position indicator. Don't know much about goop but the Permatex black oil resistant RTV gasket maker seems like a good choice and that ought to stop the leak once and for all.
