I've recently had a problem with getting my '06 Classic to idle. Unless I stayed on the throttle to keep the rpm's at idle(7-800 rpms?)it would immediately die. Here and other forums suggest replacing plugs, fuel pump, vacuum hoses, tpms units, re-programming via Tune ECM, replace or re-crimp wires to coils, remove stepper motor, adjusting stepper motor and on and on. I saw one guy, only one, suggest doing the 12 minute tune. That was by far the easiest thing to try first. I did and idle is now perfect. I get lucky once in a long while. :)

Its easy to load the parts cannon when someone else is paying for it. Thats basically how forum suggestions go 😆 glad the simple solution worked out for ya.

All of the items suggested are valid points. Any one of them could have addressed your problem. The ideas usually come out in droves and should be welcomed however, you took your time and did what requesters should always do... analyse and go with the easy fixes first in a systematic order. The suggested worst case scenerios are usually just that... worst case which don't usually happen... usually:banghead:?

That is truely amazing.

FYI: A 2006 or any 2004 to 2009 Rocket should have the idle raised to something between 900 to 950 RPM because the idle oil flow is to low at the 750-850 factory setting.
a little more info
i had set mine to 850
for checking now on mine i can hold the throttle wide open (stopping injectors from firing) and crank the motor over and the light will go out at cranking speed so then i figure while idling speed i should be good. i am assuming the switch pressure is probably around 10 psi.
so when i hear an oil light is on while running there must be something wrong.
mine bamgs the gears at 850 so would not want mine higher. of course that is only one bike and you do not hear much about other bikes on idle.

Well done on holding the throttle at a steady idle speed for all that time
It was easy. I opened the throttle a hair or two, locked my BrakeAway cruise control gizmo and started the bike. It ran at 1000 rpm's for 12 minutes from point fan first started to run with radiator fan cycling on and off several times after that.
