12 minute reset after RAMAIR and DOBECK probs? Tweaking map tables to RAMAIR b4 Dobe install.

Doug...I assume since I cannot see what tune I have as it is worn off the ECU that TuneECU will see t. When the AFR+ is unplugged there is a null cap on the lead from the O2 from the ECU so like I said the Bike is running fine I just think a bit lean. Conversely...Like I said in another post when it was working (the AFR+) we nudged it up to 13 and when it came out of open loop it dropped back to 11.9 and DP said...YOU ARE RUNNING RICH. Which makes no sense as the RAM lets huge amount of air in as compared to the Stock Box...

Should I slap the stock o2 back in to take a reading with the RAM and the AFR+ diabled or is that a waste as it is a narrow band 02...Thought the narrow band mostly was for idle?

LMK....I have no way to see the AF ratio with Tune ECU unless I have the stock 02 installed to the ECU? I think DP went on this 12 minute tune kick as some bloke on a You Tube vid said let it run post ramair for 12 min to reset the ECU which evidently is not true.

With the stock o2 sensor plugged in, the ecu uses it (closed loop) for cells in the AF table with values of 14.57 in the old stock exhaust tune below 15% throttle and below 4200 rpm, so it's more than just idle. It doesn't output an a/f ratio, just a +/- to indicate if it's fat or lean.

There's really no reason to use the stock o2 except for emissions so don't bother. The plug you put in is probably the same as the plug used with the power commander. It tells the ecu to disregard the 14.57 in the a/f table. Tuneecu lets you look at and change values in the fuel, ignition, a/f tables etc. It doesn't tell you the actual a/f ratio. Your wide band sensor does. Can you continue to get readings from that with the Dobek disabled?

Could you say again what exhaust you have?

The wide band is plugged into the AFR so it's of no use. I am running stock exhaust and Cat....I am thinking we need a RAMAIR map (or K and N) as she has to be running leaner with all the extra intake flow and the bike seems alot hotter but I have not had the red overheat idiot light come on or how would the bike behave with a RAMAIR and stock exhaust if running excessively lean?

No backfires or decel pops...runs normal but revs faster with less Butt torque.

Since you have stock exhaust with the cat, you are probably lean but not excessively lean. You also probably have the stock tune for stock exhaust. You will be able to check that when you read the ecu with TuneEcu. If you don't use the AFR, you want to load a tune that has more fuel and the secondaries open 100%. Then if you get the AFR working, this will be your base tune.

Don,t forget that you can use the Dobeck as just an AFR guage without the controller changing fueling. The 'how to' is in the instructions that should have come with it.

I believe mine is defective...this is what it does when I start the bike then it stops giving the blue green and gives a sccrollng 4 light sequence which has the DP crew baffled. They claim I screwed up the Fuel Map tables by running the RAMAAIR with the DP which makes no sense as the DP wideband 02 is made to measure between 9 and 16 AF ratios (which I am well within as the bike is idling at 900 rpm and running normally-manually adjusting the mixture lean or rich using the AFR+ has no effect and the gauge is not reading any AF ratios.....Hence the RMA. I think I got a bad unit, I went into tune ECU and I am still running map 20215-which is the stock map I believe and the Gauge is not reading any AF ratios.....Something is definintely wrong with it-the AFR+. After this vid was shot now the gauge just sits at 10 with the four lights scrolling just as when you first start the bike before the 02 gets the reading except it stays that way all the time...What you see here in this video of entering "modes" can not be replicated in any repeatable fashion. It either reads 10 with all four lights scrolling or rarely, when the bike is cold-I will get the flashing green light and the AFR needle can be moved but then it hits 16(max) until the bike warms up then it swings back to 10 and reverts to the 4 scrolling lights....DP says it is the Rockets base map has been screwed up to which I disagree. @Mark Dunn LMK if you have any ideas.

I plan to take the unit off and return it for a new one and I am hoping @Hans0 or @Claviger have a close map for the bike stock using a RAMAIR intake.

Judging by your video I'd say the AFR+ is faulty. If the bike runs OK with it disconnected then it doubtful it's the base map in the ECU.
Just to be on the safe side, have you double-checked all connections from the AFR+ controller card to the guage and wide band O2 sensor. The inline connector for the O2 wide band sensor was tough to get the 2 halves locked together.

The unit went back today under warranty...They should just send out a new unit. I had no problem with the Bosch 02 as it has that bizzare fold down locking sensor clip from the Dobeck harness...It is a BOSCH 17018...How did you have probs with yours? Mine just plugged in and I folded down the white locking Cam Tab from the harness side.

Not too happy with Dobeck as they were quick to blame the install(I had a paid mechanic do it) and Dillon was pretty clueless on the Troubleshooting side. They are quick on the presale side to state the obvious merits of the Unit; but once it is installed it becomes like when you call Dish TV and they ask you during troubleshooting-"Is the TV plugged in"?

The connector have such positive locking tendencies once you do it and undo it three times...It's not the map nor the install-its the AFR system.

Glad yours is working....I will see how long the turn around time is as it will arrive in MT on Firday the 15th..TAX DAY!
