10k service costs ?

Hi Mick, those costs seem about right, but I don't know about any lifetime warranty on any parts? Triumphs own warranty is 2 years. If you only do 3 to 4 k a year by the time 10k comes round you'll be doin it yourself if you keep readin this forum!

I paid £445 last June for my 10k service but I can't remember if I had anything extra with it (like a tyre) - I seem to remember the original quote was £300 so maybe there was something else they had to do.

I know the 20k is the bigger service as the valves have to be done too.

i asked about service prices when i put the deposit on mine Mick.....600 mile service was for spares only,no labour charge,it was about £75 , 10,000 mile service was about £220 it was the 20,000 service that was about £500 pal
i'll have the 600 miler done with the dealer, after that i'll do my own and to be honest ive never kept any bike long enough to have a 20,000 service as yet

I was just quoted $1,034 (£697) to have the 10,000-mile / 1-year-service done at a dealer here in Southern California for my '14 Roadster. I'd rather spend that money on fun stuff for the Rocket. Looks like I'll be doing this myself!

Any tips or tricks I should know going into this service from people who have done this before (especially regarding checking valve clearances and balancing the throttle bodies)?

I hope you had both tyres replaced at that price or the dealer at least gave you a reach around:eek: the 10000 mile service use to include checking the valve clearances but as no one ever needed them adjusted at 10000 miles I heard they then moved it to 20000 miles one of my rockets never needed any adjustment until 44000 miles and even then it was adjusted just because the cover was off.
The valve check is what made the 10000mile service so expensive apart from that it is just an oil and filter change and probably checking a few things that you should be able to do yourself.

Current Roadster manual calls for checking the valve clearances at 10,000 miles then every 20,000 after that (30k, 50k, etc).

There really isn't anything to do at 10K miles that you wouldn't be doing bi-annually or annually anyway. Change the oil and filter and check all of the fasteners for proper tightness. You may need to buy an inexpensive torque wrench.

I have seen reported here on the forum that the check has been moved to 20,000 miles. That sounds reasonable. I am crazy nuts about maintaining my bike, but I think the 10,000 mile number is stupid. I haven't read of anyone on the forum having an issue at that point in time, so I don't think I'm going to do it at 10,000. Anyone had an issues at 10,000 miles??? I'm coming up on that number shortly, so I guess I'll need to talk to a couple dealers and make the decision. From my perspective, excess clearance should result in some subtle increase in noise. I dont hear that.

If I have done all the other things on the list myself (which I will have done as routine maintenance) it should cut a considerable chunk off the cost of the bill for just doing a valve clearance check. Quite frankly, I can't say as I feel comfortable with most dealers doing a competent job on the valve check or even doing it at all. Do they even stock the shims? I think there are a lot of know nothing mechanics working at the dealerships. I guess I'm going to have to find a dealer with a mechanic I can trust.
