I think about installing the turn signals as having 2 aspects: mechanical and electrical:
I used the Lamonster tail tidy kit for the mechanical attachment, relocating from the swing arm extension to under the tail as shown in the picture. Installing the tail tidy is a bit challenging as there are no instructions provided. There is a nice write up in the resources section of this forum about installing the Evotech tail tidy, and I found this to be very useful in taking the stock turn signal / license plate / fender assembly apart. There are also a couple of threads here in the forum that discuss the installation of the Lamonster tail tidy.
The electrical update was challenging just because the wiring had to be re-routed from the swing arm to under the rear fender. Again, the Evotech write up helped here. I tried to keep everything on the bike side "stock" and did all my wire modifications on the turn signal leads. This will allow me to return to stock easily if I ever want to.
The stock harness has individual connectors for each wire, and these are easily disconnected by hand. One more tip: before you disconnect the stock turn signals, label each wire for "left" and "right". Again, I kept the bike-side harness unmodified, and cut the stock turn signal leads about 2" back from the connector end. Then I spliced the stock connectors onto the new turn signals. This allows me to disconnect everything easily at any time. You will need a soldering iron and some heat shrink tubing to reliably attach the stock connectors to the new turn signals.
The turn signals that come from Lamonster have 4 wire leads, which confused me at first. They are designed to function as running lights, brake lights, and turn signals. I chose to use them as turn signals only, so I only used the black (ground) and yellow (turn signal) leads. The front turn signals that I ordered from Amazon look identical but come with only 2 leads, to function as turn signals only.
As I mentioned, mechanically attaching these new front turn signals will be a bit challenging, and will require some creativity. I'd love to see details about what others have done to attach aftermarket front turn signals. There may be a simple solution.
