Surely you will die on day 1 of putting a CT on your Rocket Touring as you can’t turn them.

While Trying to lean into a corner the tire will just slip out and you will low side or it will unseat itself from the bead and pop right off the rim.

Just kidding of course.

The Darkside tire database has been moved and revamped.


Go to “tire data” then the second section to find your Triumph model and see what CT’s people have tried, PSI, etc.

You now have to click on each entry to see the size and brand.

I would start with the narrowest tire for your rim or one that is a close match to the OEM tire/tyre.

Set pressure to what is indicated on the tire and adjust downwards until you find the sweet spot.

Play with shock settings too.

It takes about 1,000 miles of riding to get used to the nuances.

A car tire and a front sled might just be what are canadian bruthas need, just thinking out loud.

I ran a 245/60-16 BF Goodrich and did not have rubbing issues and i still recommend the dark side , the 245 is a big tyre and boy you can have alot of fun on the rocket with a car tyre .

Antares 215/60/16. Just a tad too tall. Rubs on the right side mud guard nut. IMO, less width/taller profile is better. The Antares will break traction gradually if throttled out of a corner. Nice side to side transition even when new. Could be better on wet roads. Need to try a 205/60 or 215/55.


Raptor gives nice ride and mileage. It's a little too short. I think folks use the 225/50/16.


Sumitomo makes a 225/50 Best ride. Way too tall. Rubs the mud guard.

Not a car tire, but did you consider a Michelin Commander 11. I have over 20,000km on my touring rear tire with still lots of tread left.

Never seen it

Yes, I've tried commanders, avons, all the touring tires. Most give out around 10,000 km or 6000 miles. When the weight goes up the miles go down(mileage). And I'm not easy on the throttle.

I've now ridden 40,000 miles (on 2 rear (car) tires so far) a 245 50 16. No rubbing, no issues and I'm very happy to have gone 20,000 miles on each tire. Now becauae of speedometer issues and comfort (I hope) I'm looking at a bit taller profile and possibly going narrower to avoid any possible clearance issues. Thinking about a 225 60 16. Anybody else try this size?
