With all the focus on breaking in the low compression engine I neglected to rate the Robinson Transmission that went into it.
Undercut dogs, beefy circlips around 3rd & 4th output, and billet 4th gear.
First few shifts were a bit stiff but after that it was perfect.
Before, when shifting into 2nd, sometimes it would like go halfway in but not fully and as a result I could go from 1st into neutral. Not good if you're racing...
I had to basically hold the shifter in for a sec to make sure it went in, if it didn't feel like it went straight in.
Also, there was a clack clack clack sound of dogs hitting and skipping when moving off in 2nd from an almost standstill in traffic.
Also, when shifting up into 2nd and gave it some throttle, there was a slip and a kick, like it hadn't gone fully into 2nd and then slipped a little and bang went fully in suddenly.
All of that is gone now I think and shifting into 2nd from 1st is a snick.
No more notchy through N.
Of course I can't tell the difference with the circlips or the billet 4th, other than the peace of mind.
So. Adjusted the map around idle to get it steady and strong. Dropped the oils too.
Will fill up tomorrow to complete the break in service.
