R vs GT

Once you have gotten acquainted with it, you can increase the SPORT mode performance with TuneECU and removing the factory limitations on the fueling if present. My 2023 GT was limited to 76% power in SPORT at mid all the way to full throttle from the factory. Not any more. Gain was about 30 HP overall. You may want to wait until the engine breakin period is complete before adding more ponies.

I think I'm pretty much through the break in on mine. 800 plus miles. I changed the oil and filter, and rear drive lube. I have a BT moto handheld tuner, but I'm not sure I can get through all I'm supposed to do with it. And whether I need a windows computer. I'm waiting for a reply to an email about riding in for the tune.

If the BT Moto tune is windows driven you just need a bluetooth OBD reader and laptop with bluetooth to connect to the OBD reader. Once you connect to the reader you can connect with your ECU thru the reader and upload and download thru the reader. You may want to contact BT Moto to see if there's a preferred reader.

Thanks, sounds easy when you say it. But I'm clueless with this stuff. No idea what a OBD reader is. I hope they let me ride in and load it for me. They're only about an hour and a half away. Otherwise, I'll probably have to send them my ECU, like on the '25 storm models. Then I'm without a bike until it comes back......I remember when you just changed jets in the carb.

The reader plugs into the diagnostic port under the seat: On Board Diagnostic (OBD)

Your laptop connects to the bluetooth of the reader, the reader is powered by your motorcycle's battery. Once you connect your laptop to the reader you then need to connect to the bike's ECU (Engine Control Unit) which is the computer brain for the bike. That is what BT Moto will do, save yourself the trouble of having them deal with it.

I use TuneECU and it's fairly simple to operate and gives you a lot of information. Here is a simple turorial on working with a computer and your bike: the BT MOto file is handled the same way, connect to the bike's ECU and then reflash the unit.

If you reset the adaptations like the guy in the video you'll have to do the switch check to restore cruise control. So don't reset the adaptations to keep your cruise unaffected by the reprograming. BTW what the guy does for the Electronic Throttle Valve (ETV) table 3 (SPORT MODE) adds about 30HP to the upper end of the power band.
