Rear luggage worth the money ?

Yeah, not sure comparing an Indian chieftain and a rocket3 is fair. They’re almost different classes of motorcycle entirely. The rocket is essentially an engine with a bike attached to it that triumph designed some amenities for to accommodate some light touring. I too had the 20l bags replaced under warranty. Locks got jammed from road grime while touring in Maine. The new 25l bags IMO are adequate if you have realistic expectations about the bike. If you need more storage, a waterproof triumph tiger bag on the back rack does the trick, and essentially matches. Put on a couple thousand miles with this setup, only issue was the mentioned lock on the 20l saddlebags which triumph replaced under their 2 year accessory warranty with the newer models, no questions asked

I don't think I could put my leather jacket in one of those bags?

My wife has put her armored triumph jacket in them. I can't recall if I've tried to put mine in, but thinking if its armored, probably not.

Admittedly, the Triumph panniers are nothing special. And they are expensive. So what? Besides fitting a tail pack and/or a tank bag, you do not have very many options - luggage rack aside, which I think is the ugliest thing you can bolt on a Rocket (except, perhaps, for a sissy bar).

I did some reasonable long tours on my 3R last summer - up to five days per trip - and got along fine with the OEM panniers. Provided you stuff your things into the waterproof liners, everything remains dry. The outer covers serve more for the protection of the panniers against dirt, I guess: Cleaning the panniers after a day riding in the rain without them was a bit of work.

You can tour on pretty much any motorcycle - the Rocket included - if the adventure is calling you. If it isn't, even the best touring bike will not help. You want more comfort and more space for all the stuff you absolutely *must* take with you? And you can't be bothered with putting covers over your panniers before it rains? Get a grip and buy yourself a cage.

I did successfully tour seven days out west with my TFC. It was great. I carried three pairs of boots, two helmets, three different jackets, seven full days of clothing with xtra underwear and socks multiple pairs of gloves, rain gear and long underwear. A cooler of drinks and a five gallon container of extra gas.

It was so easy I even carried a spare motorcycle. How???

I had a buddy follow me in my truck pulling my 20 foot trailer loaded with everything I could dream of having. Thanks Paul aka Joesmoe.🤣🤣🤣

I picked up my 25L bags today and I don't really have any complaints about them as if they do the job I'm happy. I liked the 20L and was worried the profile with the 25L would be too wide but it's keeping with the lines of the Rocket. I have grown to like the looks and for me personally I could tour for 3 to 4 days at best before needing items washed. So unless I want to make a jaunt across the states they should work fine. I was talking with a dealer and he stated that Triumph probably won't have the Panniers available as an accessory within the next 3 years or should I say stop production of them (his opinion as he has worked for them for many years). He stated that Triumph is fairly bad about adding and keeping accessories as they like to 'move on' not sure what that meant. He seemed busy so I didn't follow up on the statements but Triumph has always been stingy with accessories. The dealer absolutely loves Triumph so he may know the rumor mill about their products. If it's true then they are either going to build a Rocket touring, make it more of a sport bike, or more of a cruiser or discontinue. I don't know how well the sells are but it seems to be popular with the motorcycle magazines and online mag sites.

Discontinue the new Rocket? I doubt that.
