Had a wedding to go to in Brooklyn,NY was going to take in the WTC till i found out it would cost me $64 for two of us to go to the top...!! A little PO'd considering what it takes to spend a night in NYC. I had already spent $800 for train, cab fair, food and hotel maybe next time. Glad to see it completed though. I lost a distant relative on September 11. He made it out of the tower called his wife Tammy to let her know he was ok and when the second plane hit ,he was struck in the head from falling debris. The building stands 1776 feet tall. Cost to build it $3.9 billion.....!

I watched the smoke billowing out of the Twin Towers from just across the Hudson River. I was in New York on business. In fact, I was headed to the airport that morning. I ended up driving a rental home since all flights were cancelled.

So much respect for the New Yorkers for giving the towel Heads the bird and rebuilding , watching that unfold in 2001 is what made me have no hesitation whatsoever when i got the opportunity to be a part of OIF and OEF

Will never forget that day! Was sitting at home on medivac alert when my mom called and said turn on the news. 3 hours later we were flying support missions (mort teams, blood supplies, etc). Most erie thing in the world. We were cleared direct from takeoff just outside of St Louis. Three center check-ins were the only three radio calls/voices I heard that day. For those of you that fly, you'll know how "silent" that is; literally the only plane flying for hundreds of miles across busy centers. Somewhere across Cleveland center we actually called just to see if they were still there! Flew three missions that day and still get chills every time I think of it!
Very glad to see it's open again!!
