Won't idle

Have a 2007, 40,000, was on a little road trip the other day (2500 miles) and about half way into the bike stopped wanting to ilde, starts and runs fine, will occassinally idle at about 250rpm for 30-40 sec. Do I just have a dirty air filter? or is there an idle adjustment? thanks for any help
 
Primary Throttle Position Sensor. The replacment should have blue internals. I havent had a TPS issue since installing this TPS. There are a gagillion posts on here about the primary TPS. Pretty much every 2007 and older has had this problem at some point.
 
would agree with the tps just got mine fixed in may after 4000 miles no problem

So is the TPS a pretty simple replacement?
 
For what it's worth, I've had a similar situation with my 2006 R3 at around 34000 miles.

Rather than replace anything, I simply lubricated the idle position controller with WD40.
It's located just beneath the coolant tank, on the front of the primaries. Squirt some under the rubber dust boot and actuate the controller by turning the ginition on and off several times. Haven't had an issue since in the last 1000 miles


If that doesn't work, then I'd suugest replacing the TPS.
 
The main thing is the TPS will need calibrating once installed. This can be done using TuneECU freeware or TuneBoy software, or your dealer will need to do it.

The TPS itself is only 1 screw and 1 plug. HOWEVER, to reach the plug, you have to remove part of the intake plumbing. It's not hard.. but it is a pain in the butt!
 

This worked well for me also (only difference is I used Dielectric grease) but after about 2000-2500 miles the issue popped up again and then a reset of the TPS (PCV) has cured it since then and that has been quite some time/miles.

Thanks for the info, is there a picture of the idle positioner in the manual?
 
Tps

I went through the same mess. I read all the input on BOTH forums. One suggestion was to do the "freebe" first. Clean the crank idle sensor before going the TPS route.
My dealer naturally didn't have a TPS in stock so I opted to tried cleaning the crank idle. Low and behold, first time ever, the free side worked!!!
Check the past posts for the problem. there is even pictures with directions posted.
Gotta love this place
