With a heavy heart I bid farewell.

Cajon Pass - Great, world-renowned railroad and railfan territory and excellent mountainous motorcycling cycling country running right through the Mojave Desert.

No kidding Phil. I knew that you lived in CA graduated from a California college but didn't realize you'd ridden that area. Being born and raised in CA I'm surprised that I've never heard of it but I was a NORCAL kind of guy. Growing up, to us SOCAL was LA and Huntington Beach.

Oh well, I'll be riding it this spring. Come on out and join me.

The "Cajon Pass" is a 15+ mile stretch of the I-15 Freeway between the low altitude Inland Empire of LA, Orange County, and Metropolitan San Bernardino to Victorville/Hesperia where the "395" meets I-15 at about 3500ft above sea level. The vistas are incredible, and doing it on an R3R can only be described as 'spiritual'. Midway up is 138 N-E which will take you to the San Bernardino Mnts (Big Bear- Lake Arrowhead) or to your S-W into Wrightwood and the San Gabriel Mnts and the famous Hwy-2 "Angeles Crest Hwy" 65miles all the way to Glendale LA.

Heading 'down' from the High Desert looking due-west.

Looking S-S West from near summit

Yes, I understand how you feel, I am not looking forward to the day I stop throwing the leg over. But on the up side at least you have gone through life having owning a Rocket.

If I might add to that - because he has owned a rocket, then he has lived.
