Winter Riding

Reno is pretty mild in winter, except in the morning when it's dark (15 deg F). I'll ride when it's over 40, except when the roads are icy, like now.

Good thing for global warming or else it would be winter all the time around here!

North central Iowa. I wouldn't think you would be any better off than here in Penn. but I haven't really looked at a map to see. Didn't you just get dumped on earlier this week?

The last couple of winters seemed to last 5-6 months. We don't look for spring until June anymore. This winter is going to be really bad I am sure and it will be all my fault cause I bought the Rocket.

We got about 6 inches over the weekend. So we were way luckier than most of the Mid-Atlantic! Up until then I had pretty much been riding to work every day. That's actually what prompted my question. I Love to ride, but didn't want to put myself or the Rocket in harm's way. The frustrating thing now is that it's all clear between my house and work, but the parking lot where I work is still icy. I'm actually more concerned about my foot slipping when I go to park it than actually going down while riding. Guess I'll have to wait a few more days. It looks a little warmer next week with possible rain over the weekend.

I was wondering whose fault this was!

I usually ride all winter. Of course having a side car, a fat car tire, and good snowmobile gear makes it easier. You can't see it in the picture, but my Speedmaster has a Velorex sidecar attached. This was taken in Johnstown, PA last January at the Steeler's Superbowl Rally. I'm about to trade it in on an '09 Rocket, so my winter riding days may be limited this year (and there probably won't be a Superbowl Rally this year.) Nice web site!

Nope, not much hope for a Superbowl OR a Rally this year! Nice Picture!!

O.K. Chopper, you are defininetly born again crazy, or maybe you have always been that way, I don't know. But I will say that you are for sure an inspiration for me. I have to admit I have never seen someone ride in those conditions before. As far as taking the blame for this winter, (buying the rocket and all), I'm just covering for the rest of you rocketeers and now, after seeing Chopper's photo I'm not sure riding has anything to do with riding?
