Which bearing is failing?

2006 Rocket III, Suzuki Katana 750, Kawasaki Zepher 550, Honda CB750
I keep reading the "output" bearing is failing. When I look at the service manual, I see there is the "input" shaft which has the gears on it. In the threads here, I have seen that it has been the dampener bearing that was identified as the problem.

I'm confused...

Also, if the "input" bearing is going out on which includes the 2nd gear, are you able to get to it without splitting the case? It doesn't seem to be accessible without splitting it.

I apologize for all the questions. I am trying to wrap my head around the project so that what should be a 20-25 hour project doesn't turn into one where I should be clocking in and out of. lol
 
firstly have you had the update kit fitted it includes the second gear part, the output bear people refer to is yes the torsional damper bearing it is on the out put side hence the reference I suggest you ask @warp for more details on the input bearing or better still read some of his very descriptive threads do a search and you will be amazed what he has done over the last few years there is not much in his engine he has not touched but then with the power out put of the falcon you got to expect something to give
 
The Output shaft is actually the Torsional bearing shaft. The one that connects to the drive shaft. It has two bearings, an inner and an outer. Either one can go. It is removed at the rear of the motor but the motor has to be dropped to get enough room to get it out. To check you can remove the drive shaft and feel if you can feel any play on the exposed splines.
 
Another way to check is to drop the sump pan and have a look in the rear screen. Either way you should drop the sump and clean the screens as you would not believe how much machining swarf is in them from new.

Does anyone know what the part numbers are for the coils included in the kit? I am thinking about maybe not getting the full kit but just the bearings to stay as cheap as possible. However, if it's a good idea to replace the coil(s) and the plugs per the kit, maybe I should do that too since it will be simple.

Does anyone have any information on the coil(s) and plug changes?
 
The kit is about 1/10th the cost of the included parts.
