A'hem... You know that Rocket I recently asked you about? The new one I ended up buying? Well, I, erm... traded it for a Harley Road King :kk: Must've done all of 700k. Lucky I got it at such a good price. The dealer now has it listed for more second-hand than I paid new. I'm still down on the deal but what the hell. I've an understanding wife.

Promise I'll still wave at you.

Why did you let the r3 go

You did what???????????
Ok, i will follow you with my trailer picking up the pieces that fall off your bike
Just kiddin!!
I have a harley too and i love it!!
i ride it at least 300 miles a year

everybody should own 1 harley in their lifetimes,
that way they can say they use to have a harley.
I myself went the other direction.
after 35 years on those underpowered, overpriced,
pieces of antique 1940's technology
I took 1 test ride and decided to UPGRADE.
congrats on your move, hope you're happy with your decision,
I KNOW i am....
But I am putting a piece of antique technology on my front end,
so it's all good I guess.
To each his own.
Ride safe whatever you're on.
Happy Trails.

I went on 3 twenty minute test rides on 3 different Hardlys and could not see the fuss, how skip rode one or many for 35 years has got me beat, They dont fit me body wise do nothing power wise in fact a 1975 350 cc Yamaha had more soul and character let alone performance. My guess is The Rocket was too much bike for him I know a few mates who test rode the Rocket the same day thought it was just too Much Power and Too big a bike for them They went back to riding Twins and BMW's, It was thier choice and I respect them for realiseing thier OWN limitations JMHO

And NO I am not having a Shot at the OP

Too much power? Honestly, no. The surge of speed was just tremendous though. Haven't felt that in years. Not since my days on a Fireblade or ZZR. I think I just like the sound, look and lazy, relaxed feel of the HD. I also like that I know them inside out.

I has a Suzuki TS185 trail bike in the garage not so long ago. It was the wife's learner bike. Throwing that around hill roads was fantastic fun. All bikes have something about them. My V11 Guzzi was great too. Now that had character.

There's a certain HD rider profile that I certainly don't fit. I don't wear all the HoG gear and hang around the dealership with other 'dudes'. My Road King is black and understated. It's just a handsome bike. In the ten bike garage in my head there would be all sorts of things and for most of us, that would also include at least one HD.

If i wanted a Harley i'd have one ... had my first HD when i was 20 years old , they were pretty scarce on the streets back then , unlike today. Reckon they lost their appeal to me when charities started offering them as a raffle prize. Enjoy your new Road King ... it ain't no Rocket though that's for sure.

Onchan, happy you bought a bike you like, regardless of brand. My garage is a happy residence for a rocket, a can am spyde, a kawasaki ninja, a harley softail, a honda cbr and a cadillac motorized bycicle, i like them all, and more than likely the brands will keep changing if i find something different in the future, see? Im an equal oportunity rider just like you

I couldn't have said it better!! LOL LOL I still have my electra glide, I consider it my winter bike since fairing and lowers keeps me warm. But the rocket just blows that antique away! You'll be back!!

I've ridden a few Harley's my brother had a low rider 30 or so years ago not my thing back then ,then a mate spent $45'000 on a new v rod red and chrome looked really nice ,handled really well ,power and brakes were pathetic ,for that type of money I would have been pretty pissed
