Just read a review of the new VMAX. It doesn't break 10! So now I don't have to worry about getting one. Woe is it. Otherwise it's a monster. 0-60 mph in 2.7 sec. Terrible gas mileage (27 mpg avg.)

Curiously, they said it had more rear wheel torque (118 lb ft) than any bike they've tested. What the F?

"It doesn't break 10"

My amp goes to 11. Why? Well you see, when I need some extra oomph for solo, I just turn to 11! Why not set to 9 and turn to 10 for extra ooomph, you ask?

My amp goes to 11!

THEY also said the B KING is faster and quicker plus zx14,BUSA.and all those silly POGOSTICK 1000cc sport bikes that are useless as road bikes Im sure the max will get 35/40mpg just cruising @70mph WHATS THE BEST ALLROUND road bike?

I think they said best mileage was 31 mpg.

I think they said best mileage was 31 mpg.

If that's true, then Yamaha = fail.

C'mon, seriously? That's horrible mileage for any bike, save the Boss Hoss (and I'm pretty sure their early 4.3-powered ones would get that)!

Don't like the way those things sound, stock. Needs exhaust. Looks great, but sounds... wheezy.

You would be surprised at some of the MPG figures for the 1000cc class and up sport bikes. Our Rockets, even modified, do pretty good compared to them.

My wife's Trophy 1200 is lucky to hit the low 30s MPG. At times when I ride it, it dips into the high 20's.. It's modified, with larger jets, K&N air filter and D&D slip on mufflers, but at half the displacement of the Rocket, it still gets less MPG..

Decent gas mileage is one of the Rocket's surprise features, along with nice handling. Prima facie, the Rocket seems like it would guzzle gas compared to other bikes and handle like a pig, but I get near 40 mpg at 80 mph on the highway and have never gotten below 32 mpg, and the handling is much better than other large cruisers I have ridden. My 650 vstrom only got about 40 mpg at 80 on the highway with less than a third of the displacement.

Regarding the max, you can get a new Rocket and a blower for near the price of the new max, and you will have a much better and more capable machine.

So it didn't break 10 seconds. Big deal. It's considerably quicker than the one it replaced. It's also awesome in person. I love it. If I had 18k I'd own one.

Gas mileage is a concern when shopping for motorcycles? Unless you're looking to eek 70mpg out of a GS500E, the argument is largely moot. You didn't buy the Rocket for it's fuel economy did you?
I had the original Vmax. Fastest I went was 11.31. Mine wasn't stock either. Most run that fast stock with smaller riders. I'm 225lbs.

One of my Rocket buddies is suppost to get his some time this month...can't wait to see it, hope he lets me ride it. I think it's a cool looking bike, and some where in the 11's would be fast enough for me.:)
