The vikings have come, and they've brought a Stig; some say he moved to the US because he was tired of driving Fjords, all I know is, he's called TheDarkestStig!

Hey, my name is Martin, and I moved to Houston, TX from Norway 10 months ago. The Land of the Free is most definitely also The Land of the Incredibly Inexpensive Motor Vehicles (At Least Compared To Norway), and I'm enjoy the heck out of living Stateside so far.

I've been riding steadily for the past 8 years, but got started by borrowing my 10 year older brother's Honda CB600 when I was 9 or 10. I got a 50CC Peugot Fox when I was 15, and I put about 15k miles on that little 4HP beast. After several years of not riding, I bought an old '96 Suzuki GSF600N Bandit which I rode for about two years. Next followed a Yamaha FZ-6N S2 ABS, which got hit by a cager trying to pull a u-turn through me (across double yellow lines, no less, a feat for which he promptly lost his license) after having had it for all of 3 months. While it got fixed I bought an '86 Suzuki GSXR750, and I had both until I moved from Norway to the US 10 months ago.

Once here, I discovered that not only is petrol less than half of what it is in most of Europe, there price point of new vehicles is also significantly less. So, with the cash from the sale of my old Suzuki and the restored Yamaha I ended up with a '13 Triumph Daytona 675R. Had it for 8 months, rode it for about 6k miles, took it to a few track days, and generally enjoy the frakk out of it. Then, three weeks ago, it got stolen from my (gated and locked) parking structure, where it was parked in a corner with a disc lock equipped with an alarm.

Since insurance covered the loss of the bike, I figured it was time to buy a Harley-Davidson as I've always wanted one. The V-Rod Muscle is what drew my attention, but once I got to test ride it I wasn't very impressed. It's a nice bike, misunderstand me correctly, but it just didn't... feel... like the bike I wanted.

I looked around online, and since I was so happy with my previous Triumph I decided to look what they had to offer in the cruiser range. Once I saw the Rocket 3 Roadster, I immediately knew this was something I just had to ride.

Two days later (yesterday) and with even more satisfaction from my local dealership (Team Mancuso Powersports Southwest in Houston, you guys ROCK!), I had completed a test ride and am finding myself utterly entranced with this beast that some people have the audacity to "just" refer to as a motorcycle.

I don't want this motorcycle. I NEED it... I've put in a request for a quote at the dealership, and am eagerly awaiting feedback from them on price. I've got a Dodge Challenger SRT8 (gloss black, with red stripes) so I was kind of settled on a gloss black bike with red stripes, but it seems the stripes may not be available in the US. The dealership has a matte black '13 model they need to sell and are preparing a "good deal" on one, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they come back with.

Can't wait to be a proud pilot!

Cheers,
Martin

Good choice, and red stripes are easy to put on. Red electrical tape works well. ;):D

Welcome Martin ! When you said you had a Challenger SRT8 I felt a pang of jealousy :inlove. If I didn't have such a long drive to work, I too would have one of those. Currently driving an 05' Magnum R/T. Thinking back to when I bought my Rocket, I was coming off a HD Electraglide and knew I had to have something at least as fast as my car and it had to be good for two up. That makes the choices pretty slim ! You must get a Rocket to share the garage with your Challenger ! Stripes can always be added later !
