All,

Very new to the site and my first :)() post to the technical area...

My bike has 800 miles on it and I have 2 problems:

- My ignition is having a strange issue... When I picked it up from the dealer the igition worked normally. You had to pull in the clutch in order to start the bike with the ignition button. Then starting 2 days ago the bike will now automatically start when I pull in the clutch. E.G. bike it in neutral, I turn the key to "on", pull in the clutch WITHOUT pressing the ignition button, and bam the bike starts as soon as the clutch is pulled in. I have tried pressing the igition button in and out a few times in case it was just stuck but that does not seem to be the case.
- My throttle is sticking between 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. Just sticks there and does not return to closed throttle if I let go of it. Thinking something must be crimped or just sticking under the bars. Throwing this in there in case it is related to the above

I am going to call my dealer tomorrow when they are open, however they are ~100km away so I want to avoid having to take it to them if I can... I have a local generic bike shop that I trust that I would prefer to use if it is something small.

I am freaking out a little because I just imported this bike and have 40 days to get it safetied.

Any thoughts? Is this a known issue? Please help this worried Canadian out

Can't say as I've ever heard of that problem.
Take it apart like idk says, thats a good place to start.
It sure ain't normal, but what is with these bikes?
Each one is like a woman, overall, basic construction is identical,
but its the subtle differences that make each one so unique and "yours"..

Goth - the engine does stay started when I fire it up

I will take it into the local shop tomorrow to see if they can sort it out easily. If not it is off to the dealer.

Jim I would call th dealer and see what they say you don't want to void a warantee because the stupid dealer could not set the bike up right. By the way why was it at the dealer. did you just buy it and it had 800 on it or was it back for its first check up. Do you have heated grips this could be when they made the mistake in intalling them. Remeber Corperate Triumph controlls warrantees not the dealer you don't want to mess that up. I would call them first thing and then second call your local shop together your dealer and the shop might work this out as t is evident that who ever worked on it at the dealer is a lopp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You mentioned buying thebike in Detroit and riding about 8 hrs home so I would guess you are in the Toronto area. Any Triumph dealer should carry out warranty work,no? If you are stuck I highly recommend John Broderick of J & R Cycle up in Wasaga Beach.

Wat part of the country you in that you imported the bike to ?
If I recall correctly, it was bought in Chicago, IL USA and brought up to Canada.

+1 on disassembling the right hand switch/throttle housing - hope fully you can find the problem before you have to head all the way to the dealer (sounds like it could be a dicey ride with no idle ability).
