Upgrade kit for me?

I had the upgrade kit installed by Hermy's in Port Clinton PA. The poping out under hard acceleration problem is fixed. However, there is driveline slop in the lower 3 gears where it never existed before. Let me explain. At low rpm, the driveline jerks on accel/decel. You can make the bike jerk violently by just twisting/releasing the throttle. I have to be very easy on the throttle to avoid it. I'm taking it back for a free 600 mile bolt tightening tomorrow. What did they do wrong? I expect it cannot be fixed without a complete teardown. Do you think another dealer would even touch it now?

Not to get paranoid or hijack anything--- but I am at 24K on the 05 and have been babying the second to third gear change for some time now. Dealer says nothing to worry about but the grinding makes me want to launch every time I hear it so no one else will notice. A bit of shame.
I'm in upper SC. Does anyone have a dealer that has gone to bat for them that I can get to ? After the local dealer rounded my axle nut with channel lock pliers I can't bring myself to go back.

In as much as I had the whole 9 yards done to my '06 Classic at Baxter's (I'm always the Guinea Pig)(thanks anyway Tomo), I can say that if you have cam chain (lower sprocket) rattle, it's at 12-1500 rpm cold and when the engine warms up, it goes away. Mine sounded like it had billiard balls clacking into each other in the parking lot at Baxter's. Tom and Pig were there and heard it so they should remember.

I really wanted to take pictures of all the parts but Mr. Baxter wasn't conducive to that so I didn't. Needless to say, there was a lot of parts replaced including the clutch, plus ignition parts, wires, coils, plugs, wiring harness.....lots of stuff and just like Pigger, I was charged NOTHING. I have the shop order in the bike along with the title....Yeah, mine is paid for, long time ago.

I'm going to have to scan it and post it so everyone can see. It just says, 'all upgrades installed'......no charge. I even got an oil and filter change...no charge.

I might live in eastern Michigan but my dealer is Baxter's. Worth the drive as far as I'm concerned.

I had the bike checked post-upgrade this morning for bolt tightness. I spoke with the tech that did the work initially and who checked it today. Told him about the driveline slop. He said the upgraded dog rings have double the spacing between teeth than the part it replaced. The old dog ring would not mesh completely and that's why the trans popped outta 2nd. He thinks the slop is from the extra spacing between the dog ring teeth (?) He is confident he didn;t leave out any parts. Said the actual parts fitment is pretty easy. The hard part is getting the fram off the engine. Also said they would open her up if the slop gets worse or changes in character. FWIW.

I would imagine they are just getting the parts, they submitted the claim last Thursday. This is a busy time of year so I suspect it will take another week or two. I have resorted to airing up the tires and lubing the chain on my bicycle.

When you get your bike back, be sure to check over the fasteners. Gus told me he gets a little forgetful about the fasteners...he's answering phones and running the shop.

My floorboard mounting rails were loose. The front bolts were tight but the rear bolts were backed out 1/2". That's the only thing I found.

There is a bit more slop in the driveline now that I'm attuned to it. It's not overly noticible but it is there. It feels like more than it actually is, I suspect.

Put a Briggs on the bicycle.

I got a call that the parts are in and it should be done by the end of the week.

Try putting some playing cards next to spokes with clothes pins. May make you feel alittle more at home with the Jars. Congrad's on the upgrade. She will be back home before you know it.

Well, looks like another week on the bicycle. Gus at Baxter's called and said that he was in the process of pressing my new output shaft bearings in when he noticed that my torsional damper shaft didn't have hardly any tension on it. Apparently the spring is bad. So that may have been what I thought was a transmission problem all along. He called Triumph and they are going to warranty that also.

So because of what I thought was a transmission issue, has led to discovering a head gasket leak (thanks Tom) and TDU failure. I can't complain, the warranty was up in February 2008, and Triumph is paying for the upgrade kit, head gasket, a torsional damper shaft and any labor.

I have to say, that there are probably not very many dealerships out there that -while they are being underpaid for warranty work - would find other issues and take care of them too. Also not too many mechanics would take the time to call the customer everyday to let them know the progress. He also told me that he will be putting about 100 miles on my bike when he is done to make sure everything checks out. I am glad I took my bike to them.

I also have to "give props" to the guys that went through the output shaft bearing and transmission issues a few years ago that has led to these issues being identified and easily resolved.
