Spoke to Chris Kunes about the fairing and trunk all the trike dealers are saying will be offered in May 15. He said Triumph is entering the full fairing and trunk market but they are unsure whether it will be the Thunderbird LT or the R3T.

I hope it swings our way but there is not way to tell at this point. I did like these two toys!

spy shots showed triumph using the P-16 engine dressed out for full touring last spring, but heres the rub, harley uses hydraulic lifters so no $$$valve cks. A road king or street glide may cost more up front but if you start piling up miles the thunderbird major tune every 12k or in my case 9 months the RK is cheaper and will sell faster when you move on. personally i'll never own either bike again.

Likewise I will never own a Harley Davidson again (I owned 2- and ultra and a Road King). Both left me stranded on multiple occasions and the actual cost of ownership changing oil and primart was ridiculous. The Ultra used a complete oil change from KY to New Orleans to Houston, through Arkansas and back to KY.

The cost you cite must have been your dealer as my first valve check was around $250 and that was with the oil change. The last one was $150 done by a local mechanic. I consider owning a Harley these days to owning a Taurus, Focus, or Impala. Everyone has one.

Hydraulic lash adjusters are NOT always the cat's pajamas.
I've had to replace then twice in 80k on my Kaw.
And I believe they float the valves much easier.

I'm not recommending them, and if we had someone locally thet would do the valve check on a 16-1700 thunderbird for $250. it wouldn't be an issue, but they(dealers)are holding us hostage to the tune of $960.00 for the 12k.

I would have to post bail if someone charged me $960 for that. That is just bull****. I would give that dealer lost of free advertising.
