Ok guys, I've seen lot's of discussion on here about different exhaust manufacturers etc and I know this is a subject that has been well covered - however...

I'd like to do something to put a bit more sound and life into the bike. I don't however want to go the full on 'armageddon' route of straight throughs or TOR's with CAT bypass. I'm therefore veering towards a combination of either having the TOR's with the CAT in place, or the CAT removed with the stock end cans.

Now the questions -
1. Is either combination better for power?
2. If so, do Triumph do tunes to suit both?
3. Which is loudest? (I know 'loud' is subjective, but loudest is a straight matter of fact if someone has heard both).

I've found a sound file on here of a bypass/standard 'mufflers' combination which I quite liked. Any other soundfile suggestions would be welcome, accepting of course they are only as good as the original recording equipment and then the speakers on my PC :D

I guess my preference would be a nice burble on tick over with a bit of a rasp under power, but subdued enough at low revs to cruise in without waking the street. Horsepower gains after that would be a bonus.

Thanks gang.

Not a full answer to your question, but IMO the cat bypass and standard pipes will give you that - that's my set-up.

Triumph tune is available for this combination.

More horsepower? Don't know - nothing spectacular, but throttle response is a bit sharper I think.

Other points in favour of this set-up:

1 - You won't have "not for road use" stamped on your pipes, so no concerns if you get pulled for a check.
2 - Cheaper to replace the Cat than the pipes.

Some guys have gone to ONE TOR, with cat delete. That's the combo I am going to try. Bypass with stock silencers is still pretty quiet--a turbo charged sewing machine.
