What was you top three complaints while nearing the end of the two year warrenty that I should be on look for and report and expect a fix??? on my Rocket???
1) output shaft bearing
2) tranny upgrade
3) ECU
Seems to be about the 3 biggies, then
4) wireing in ignition switch
5) idle probs. or new tune
Thats my guess on the three biggies, with a couple thrown in just for good measure.
1- Loss of 2lbs air pressure in front tyre
2- Loss of 1.5lbs of air pressure in rear tyre
3- Changing oil every 5000miles.
Apart from the above which are very very annoying my bike has 33000miles and no other problems.
Freightbusters: My one-year warranty expired in Nov. '05. I had to resort to it to fix a mysterious ( at the time) 2nd gear popping problem. Which unfortunately manifested itself again a year and 12'000 k's later. And was taken care of under... warranty.
That was 2 years ago. Since then, my "green machine" has been as dependable as a mule.

ya know, now that I think about that stinkin air problem, you guys are right. I've got a fairly new metz on back with only 2500 miles on it, and no visible reason to leak but it does. Got to air it up about every time I ride.

..and will they cover any rust on the bike even as I try to keep oxcidation down but tuff sometimes living near the beach with the salt spray
I too lose air around 1 to 2 lbs a month?? in both tires?

Oh YEA sat on a new VMAX yesterday..took two guys to pull me off...kind of fits tight on me!!!! darn it!!! hard to get my heels back behind my knees sitting on the vmax....
My #1 complaint is the battery. The beast needs a much larger battery box to accommodate a much higher CCA battery. I've gone through two batteries in two years. They simply won't hold up to below 40F degree days and below freezing overnight temperatures for more than about 3 days. I'm going to give the Odessy PC625 a go and I'll get the trickle charger set up as well.
Normal tire air pressure leakage is 1-2 pounds per month. There's not much you can do about it.
The first cold day this year, my air pressure really dropped. I put air in both tires. This happened again the next day and the day after. The temperature here in georgia was going from the low 20's to the mid or high 50's those few days. I had someone tell me to put nitrogen in my tires. It worked. The air pressure stays consistent now, no matter the temperature.
I don't understand the difference, when air is pumped into a tire, it is mostly nitrogen anyway, it's the small amount of oxygen and whatever else that gets in their that makes the tires fluctuate, nitrogen is much more stable at various temperatures. You guys might wanna give it a try.
I think alot of oil change places are doing it now. It was $5 / tire for the bike.
