Tighten mirrors on R3T

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with tightening the mirrors on the R3T? Where the mirror stalk mounts into the bars they sit in some type of friction bearing, unfortunately the LH mirror is a bit too loose and tends to move back at highway speeds, particularly in any kind of headwind.

I've tried tightening up the bolt on the underside of the stalk, but that didn't seem to do much. Do I just need to give it a bit more torque or is there another trick to increasing the friction on these mirrors?

Sometimes they are not installed as well as they should be, RocketDaryl had that problem on his when he picked his up at the dealer after he bought it.

The solution was to get a new "fitting" and install it in the stem housing and retighten...appeared to be alright after that.

The one on my Thunderbird (left one) was loose, tried tightening it and ended up breaking off the head/nut (can't remember...don't have it with me) so I had no mirror on the way home from Crestview to Molino, FL (about 70 miles)...it was no fun not having one.

Some (me) would suggest not bothering with the stock "Mickey Mouse Ear" mirrors and getting a set of billet after market. I had nothing but trouble with my factory mirrors and replaced them a week after I got the bike. I'm partial to the Kuryakin convex with built in turn/running lights.

locktite

Easy sorted i put a spot of locktite on the thread and it was job done. Dont intend to insult any one from other places but you may have other names for this product. Its just an adhesive to prevent bolts or nuts coming loose under vibration and you can still untighten it after. Regards hooky

OMG you used a brand name?!?! LOL, nobody here cares ... our webmaster doesn't roll like that.

Within a week of buying my new R3T I had to take it back for a loose left mirror, a week later for the right one, apparently it's a common problem, and mine came with the billet mirrors. Service guy told me they had to put new crush washers in, not sure if the weren't installed in the first place. 6 months and 6000 miles since, no problems.

Properly sized washers of just about any sort will solve the problem!

They probably left them out during the prep. I do not believe they are shipped with the mirrors installed
