The Polish rebuild

Took the swingarm out and extracted the shaft. Top is as new. The bottom is beyond bad. I really think it is unsuitable to be put back in have to sleep it over
Didn’t see how bad it was when it was in the swingarm. It is proper shot.

Good info. I've never used TunEcu. Started messing with it last week. I tried pairing the OBD adaptor to my phone, no joy, so I gave up. Mine is a Gen 1, btw. I've been reading that you can connect via cable. I'll have to check that out.

Sure - let’s see the difference between this and the older models splines. Actually I was pretty surprised to see the u joint in there. I thought this was something along the lines of motoguzzi with a round splined gland serving the pivotal/driving role.

As per the tuneecu Stef: first hand info - i have first gen Rocket and the latest tuneecu version i have on my Android tablet requires wireless connection ONLY.
As they stopped the PC version completely if you’re new to all of this I am afraid you’re sentenced to wireless.
The older version might still be kicking on a PC but I guess you will not be able to license it. Just guessing and might be wrong which happened plenty of times before

Thanks for the words of wisdom oj the splines - hope I will not be the first stripper thought even about filling these in with TIG wire and finding a machine shop to have them recut. Have the whole winter for this - we will see. Only thing is I don’t want to dismantle the ujoint but… this also could use some fresh quality grease after all these years. Not fitting greasing zerks in places like that should be punishable by sore pr.ck.

You are probably exspecting pictures lol
the early final drives has a grove around the collar in the middle yours and my 07 has this grove
don' know what year they started making the larger splines will guess around 2009.
now the touring models are different but you can use the pinion gear assy and drive shaft with a little work.
if the pinion has any play it is junk. and will leak.

I lucked out on the FD - not leaking and no odd play.
Used bigger parts or bikes to be parted are unobtainium in my neck of the woods.

ahahahahaha seems like I was not looking where it needed to be.
look what I found just this evening
1st one is NEW 2008+ touring shaft - but this might NOT fit into my FD according to the above posts
2nd one is slightly used but looks almost untouched where mine is shot and looks exactly like mine.

what do you think? Prices are the same - about 180EUR a piece.

Of course - this is not ideal - will work against the consumed outer part.

You must change both final drive and driver shaft at the same
just having one of them is worthless.

yes. I said this is not ideal :/
has anybody succeeded taking off the splined collar off of the FD???
seems like it has been pressed onto the pinion - with enough persuasion it should be possible to take it off. then it could be remanufactured to size and pressed back/loctited.

throwing out ideas costs nothing ;D

BTW found two second hand 2,3 Rocket motors. One gray, one black 2009 - each of them was 4000EUR naked - just the engine. ****! that is some money! our rockects will be soon worth millions
