just thought of a wee mod that would be worthwhile ,the front 5mm allen bolt that holds the fuel tank on could be modded by welding on a T handle made of polished 8mm stainlsss bar (perhaps sculpted to the shape of the triumph T ) smaller versions could also be made to hold the bearclaw on would be handy for roadside repairs. no more allen keys dissapearing through the lining of yer leathers ,could even weld on a couple of allen bits ,10 mm sockets if ya want to get realy into it:RockOn:

..I use one a these..

That is a good idea. I lost the petrol tank bolt on mine about 65,000 miles ago - I really should replace it sometime.

yep, mines gone too,
along with a couple of radiator shroud bolts,
one or two that holds that triangle chrome piece on
back towards the rear footpegs.
Thought about locktight, but thought about it just a little to late.

We should put studs in these places with red Loctite and then nuts. This is particularly true of the bear claw which is the single most PIA part to reassemble...except maybe the floorboards on a Classic!

Don't see why there's so much fuss over refitting the Claw, never had a problem with it.Just fit the rear bolt loosely, locate the tank clip, then push the front bracket in line with it's hole; insert the bolt & tighten them up.

x2 You also need to push hard and up to keep the claw in place as you tighten.
