I didn't know how else to title this post. I have been riding my RIII since the last service with no antifreeze in the reservoir. At least, I think so. I looked right after service, and couldn't tell where the level was. I assumed, being right after service, it was correct and that the reservoir was just too opaque to reveal the level. I have been dumb and happy for, shall we say, quite some time, and have had no issues, no engine overheat indications, no nothing. But, yesterday I decided to take the cover off and shine a light in there so I could see where the level was. It wasn't too much longer after that when I discovered there was nothing in there- oh, I did see a mist of antifreeze on the inside of the cap, so there was some amount in the system. However, nothing in the reservoir. So, I added to the max line, and rode ~ 40 miles. Today when I checked, the level was just below min, so I've added more to bring it back up to the max line. I do not see any indication of leaking anywhere. And again, I've had no indication that my engine has overheated, in short have noticed nothing out of the ordinary. After ya'll are done thanking god you're not as stupid as me, does anyone have any comments about what possible damage may have occurred, if perhaps I should check some other aspect of the system or what in general should I do besides hang up my boots for good? I am too ashamed to talk to my mechanic about this - yet.
