press down in the center ish of the seat.

usually a good elbow on it as you reach accross with the other hand releases enough tension

Elton:

Same thing happened to mine. I don't know if the prior owner EVER took off that seat, but it was stuck on like glue.

Pushing down in the middle didn't do it, and I turned that key so hard that I thought I was going to break it.

Eventually, I hosed the locking mechanism LIBERALLY with WD-40/silicone and then took the lubricant can with a long straw and literally doused the underside of the seat in an attempt to lube up the seat latch.

Then I wiggled the key like crazy whilst pushing down on the rear-center of the drivers seat and finally it came free.

Then I hosed the living hell out of everything related to the lock with lubricant to ensure that this little event did not repeat itself.

It's such an annoying problem. Good luck!

stuck seat

I used a pair of needle-nose pliers and pulled on the release on the left side real good. It's hard to get your fingers in there to pull hard on it.
That did the trick for me.

elton - if you've still got problems at the weekend.....drop me a PM n i'll pop round and have a look see. Im only 10 mins away.....

All true, one methiod should work. Take a Xanax first

Assuming the cable hasn't popped out of its retainer, the best thing is to sit on the **** thing and bounce up and down as you turn the key. Works for me and keeps the neighbours entertained.
