Does anyone know what the performance gains are for a stock Roadster vs the same bike with just TORS and download added? Has anyone dyno'd before and after?

Thanks for any info!

If it's anything like prior years, when you just install exhaust (aftermarket, TOR's or whatever) and use the Triumph canned tune, it's going to cost you power and performance. Any potential gains from less restrictive exhaust will be negated by the further closing of the throttle body secondary throttle plates. The tune richens the fuel/air mixture by simply further restricting the intake of air.

This is just fine if you were just installing the exhaust for sound and don't care about trying to increase power and performance, it does the job it was designed for ... keeping the engine from getting damaged from a lean condition. But for those after more power, it actually does the opposite.

The only way to add exhaust/filters/etc and get more power is to use a Power Commander, Tune ECU or Tune Boy to make fuel modifications.

Sorry.

It's beyond me why anyone would put the cat free 1 1/2 inch TOR's on the bike and not change the restrictive 1 1/4 in crossover. I originally had the tors only. Then I got the Staintune free flowing Xover and What a difference it made. Using Tuneboy, I got a good map but bike went extremely lean with the Xover. Pushing more exhaust also increased the sound. Much better.
I'm extremely happy with my current setup with the Jardines. If I had done it right at first, I would have forgot the TOR's and went with the staintune pipes and crossover. Great sound and shed a bunch of weight also.

If anyone is interested, I'm selling my Xover.

Not doubting anyone here, but has anybody dynoed their stock roadster compared to justing adding TORS and download?

Thanks

Unfortunately that costs money, and spending $100 or more just to find out what it was putting out before the work is done is money that could be spent on more stuff. :D

Of course we all have the numbers from before the tuning is done, but by then all the exhaust, filters and canned tunes have already been installed. So that doesn't count.

sure it costs money but its the only way to really gauge what your mods are actually doing for you.
baselines really are a must and hopefully theyre accurate. you dont want to trust the shop or the manufacturer of a certain mod when they make a certain hp or tq gain. theyre in biz to make a profit and often overstate their gains. how do i know? i run baselines (as do others) and report back whatever gain i ACTUALLY got.
it costs money to save money sometimes too.
if someone did the dyno work already and reported that a certain mod gained 5whp and 4wt, would you pay 600 dollars for it?

back to his question, he asks what the dyno says abt adding nothing but tors and the triumph tune. i know the canned answer says it robs power but if no one does a back to back dyno run how do we really know?

With the heavy wheel and rubber, drive shaft etc, you're losing about 15 % on at the rear wheel. But, if you use 12%, the stock bike would show about 125RWHP. My tuner is going to put his stock Roadster on the dyno to see. I will post it up after he runs it. I know the crossover change gave me 5 additional HP. With the tors and triple filters, I had 138. With the new crossover I went to143. With the Jardine full system, I went to 155RWHP and 159.99 torque. The bike needs to breathe. The staintune xover is a smooth, unrestrictive flow and is 1 1/2 inch ID. The **** crossover on the stock bike has crimped over openings that measure 1.200. That's rediculous. Plus it has 2 chambers with nothing inside redirecting the flow. Just a huge mess. The header is 1.5. If you remove your pipes, look at the openings on the end of the x over. Simply amazing.

I think everyone would be disappointed to find out what their stock bike really puts out on a dyno.
