Speed Sensor Curcuit Malfunction

You can connect 12V to power and ground then monitor the 'speed' signal wire - pass a magnet at gap of few mm across the face and you should see it change state high & low
(you can actually leave it connected electrically on the bike to do this if you like)

Other than what might be relatively obvious physical damage to the harness or connector I would be shocked to find a problem with one.

Thanks, I have another speedometer and ecm and it still did not work (the speedo) so I thought I would test the speed sensor, she’s running great just no speedometer

The 12V supply for the sender originates from the Speedo - that would be black/yellow on main harness and it becomes Orange/Red on the sender harness - make sure you have 12V with ignition on that wire at the speed sender connector.
And of course ground on the black wire (black/white on sender harness)

When/how did this problem start?

What map does it have - has it been changed?

Do the MIL & Oil P & Neutral lights all come on when you turn on ignition?

Does the odo accumulate miles?

The problem started when I was having issues with bike starting and battery running down, I started checking,cleaning all connections, when you were helping me with that problem and it turned out to be fall over switch I put in sideways like a dummy,once I finally found that the problem was there. All lights work, but miles has stopped accumulating. I was just reading a post that joe smoe had problems with no speedometer or self canceling turn signals (which I don’t have either anymore )after installing M.C. cruise. He went back and checked the speed sensor cable and connection and found a rubbed wire, he taped up and everything went back to normal. I may have disturbed or messed up that connection, it is tight in there who knows I may have hooked up backwards. I’m gonna go back in there and check thoroughly. I installed the nels tune on ecu for ramair, crossover w tors I do have d and d but she is running like a scalded dog now after that tune.
