Silver engine cleaning

Have 07 with the silver engine. Trying to clean around exhaust. Have tried WD40 and degreaser but won’t touch it. Any suggestions? Haven’t tried brake cleaner yet. Have a lot of spare time these days so detailing all the nooks and crannies. Thanks
 
Don't think you'll shift it without abrasives.. crud gets baked on. (I know!)

A lot of it is the original finish material breaking down.
 

My 05's like this the rest of the engine looks good, think this is why motors should be black. If you find something I'm interested but pretty sure its baked on I have tried a lot of chemicals on it myself.
 
Would a power washer take some of that flake off ? My power washer goes to 3,000 psi. With the narrow tip I can cut wood with it.
