Silencer Innards, for inquiring minds.

I figure a bigger pipe is about the only difference.
I know lookin at mine (stock), and the wifes (TOR's),
the only external difference is the diameter of the hole coming out.
So, I figured if I drilled 4 quarter inch holes on the outside,
I'd achieve the same rumble.
I didn't.
Now I know I need to go in "deeper".
Thats always been my problem,
couldn't get deep enough..

Is all that packing spot welded or solid welded in? Man might make for a nice sound with all that packing removed. And more HORSEPOWER! ah ah ah ah ah!

Silencer Innards Thread

I have a Q' guys..

Has anybody successfully modified a standard Silencer/Muffler to help sound and perfomance on a Standard R3 R.

I remembered Mitch posted his surgery Pics when I was on the old forum  just had another look but you would have to drill the second plate to have any effect.

Did anyone manage to do anything to make an improvement?

I am looking for good priced TORs at the moment and considered a mod maybe on mine in the meantime. Any info please?

Hi Guys, now this is very interesting, as others have asked it would be interesting to know the difference with the TORS.
I build various mufflers, headers etc for the 70's Brit Bikes www.vikingexhaust.com (when its online again !!!! ) to my mind there is nothing restrictive about this stock set-up bar maybe having a larger exit diameter.

Some time a go I build a tubular Cat Eliminator for a Rocket.
The Guy used his stock headers along with his stock Silencers, his opinion was this sounded and performed better than his mates Rocket with the TORS fitted, also cost him way less.

So maybe one just needs to loose the Cat.

Cheers,

Paul.
