Living Legend
There you have it, I've confessed
Paul:
I have a story that's all true that I can relate now as I'm sure the statute of limitations has expired long ago.
Many years ago I had a Yamaha 750 Seca 4 cylinder. It was the pre-****** rocket bike and I had all the go fast goodies on it. Of course I was young and dumb then. Come to think of it, I am still dumb when it comes to speed. Anyway, I was riding with a friend on I-480 on the outskirts of Cleveland (when the limit was 55). We were doing around 90 or so which was farting along for the Seca. A OHP officer was coming at us and shot us and hit the median. Remember, this was back when they had the big MoPars with the hemi's. My friend saw him and pulled over. I slowed down to about 30, reached back and grabbed the plate and bent it up so he couldn't get the number, let him get within about 50 feet of me, flipped him off and gassed it. The Seca had so much power it immediately wheelied and the race was on. I could bury the speedo in the top of second and I had it screwed down tight in fifth. In a dead run he tried but it was like a turtle trying to catch a rabbit. After he faded away, I got off, went back the other way and passed him again going the opposite way, flat out of course. Taught him not to fool with a bike. Cars don't stand a chance, even highway patrol cars. By the way, my buddy just rode off, got off the e-way and went home. We still talk about it to this day because we still ride together.
That episode flashed in my mind last summer when the V-Rod that egged me on got waxed on US23. V-Rods stock run out around 125 or so. My R3 will pull 155 on the clock which Mr. Piggr says isn't stock but then I'm not into tunes. Whatever was loaded in the bike when I bought it gets the job done. Even with the windshield and lowers and the bags and my fat ass it pulls to 100 real quick and then to 155 in a more leisurely fashion. I kept it screwed down for about 5 miles. It sounds really good wide open. I have the stock, quiet motor boat mufflers so there is no exhaust noise but the engine makes a nice growling noise and there is a little intake howl. I flipped the V-Rod off too.
The absolute fastest I've ever been on or in a motor vehicle is 195mph. It was in a Ferrari 350 GT Berlinita Boxer V12 on I71 southbound south of I80 in the early morning. I wasn't driving but I was watching the speedo.
I've confessed about all my sins other than driving a Japanese car but that's a necessity.
I hope no children read this post, but, waxing a cop is better than Jack's Viagra. Be careful or you'll have a dent in the back of the fuel tank.
