Secondary's ....Huh ?

@cootertwo - through my recent problem with the tickover etc... I was running the bike with the Ramair filter off mainly just to see that everything was working ie. stepper, tps, etc. On start up the secondaries would open 100% and then close to about 50% on tickover. If I flicked the throttle to 1500/2500 rpm they were open 100%. With the engine off but the ignition on, the secondaries were only open about 7 to 10% Does this help in answering your question?

So.... If we set them to 100% with tuneecu, they still fluctuate according to throttle position ????? Might explain why some remove them from the throttle bodies.

Thje GiPro w/ ATRE (Advanced Timing Retardation Elimination) does its thing by electronically cancelling out the timing retardation in gears 1-4, I believe (maybe it was gears 2-5?).

How does that have any effect on "opening" the secondary throttle bodies (aka butterflies)? To my knowledge, which, mechanically-speaking, is quite limited compared to many others here, it doesn't. One thing has nothing to do with the other - that was my understanding of ATRE.

the GI-PRO supposedly choose the 3rd gear readings and supplied them to 1st 2nd.
however on mine the sec"s were only at a max of 70 % through all gears so it would have been useless to us it.

Its only six tiny screws to happiness ........... take 'em out.
Half way through Central Queensland last year I got bored with a rest day at Carnarvon Gorge, drinking beer and one thing led to another .... I took them out. Made absolutely no discernable difference. They now live at the bottom of my empty air filter box, neatly bundled up in some "million mile an hour" tape. Mind you the TPS was stuffed at the time and the bike was Pig Rooting at slow speeds. Put the new TPS in when I got home and now runs as sweet as the maiden taken in the dell.

I ride the same in the rain as dry... assume no one sees you. I go a few MPH faster than traffic so I can exercise constant conditions analysis mentally and not go all zombie mode and fall into autopilot.

I subscribe to always filter forward through traffic, even moving traffic, if you can so the cager behind you doesn’t zone out and fail to react to the single brake light since he’s conditioned to react to two.

Being faster always makes you a “new” condition for the drivers around you, so you are a recent observation in their 7 second attention spans.

Thus my comment about the ExedraMax performing well at 90mph even with 1-2 cm of standing water I had no hydroplaning.
