I have the OEM luggage rack on my 2023 R3GT and seem to have lost one of the m8x40mm bolts while out riding. It is a button head with a broader flange than most bolts I can find. Everything I am finding doesn’t have as much of a flange.

Wondering if anyone has a good bolt supplier that might carry the exact bolt. Triumph doesn’t list the bolt kit separately from the rack. Would love anodized titanium as I have done that on other parts of the bike. But a standard or stainless that meets the OEM size spec would be fine for now.

What's the head diameter and the drive size? McMaster-Carr has one with an 18-8 SS M8x40mm (1.25mm thread pitch) T-40 Torx button head with a 14mm head diameter.

Thanks for the help. The head diameter measures 17.8mm or effectively 18mm. I have only found those 14mm head sizes, but the broader shoulder on these 18mm heads may be a custom order by Triumph.

Even these stainless bolts from Pro Bolt are only 15mm with a 10mm head size, so I am classifying the button head as hard to find.

In that case I'd just go with a washer and a commensurately shorter screw. Maybe a set of two of each, so the two sides match visually. Oh, and some mild thread locker.

That’s the path I am on, but I have also reached out to a couple bolt suppliers to see if they can match or fabricate this bolt for reasonable price.

Got a photo of the bolt? I think ive got M8x40mm in workshop button heads, id need to check later this morning, I could have a match

I presume you are looking for the one on the right? its an M8 with an outer lip (false washer) unfortunately I don't have any in 40mm, but they are easy to source from a fastener supplier

Thanks for this. I have found the flanged style in 40mm length. I am looking for one with more uniformly rounded head that is 17.8mm wide like the picture above. But sans finding one of those, the flanged style may be the only option until I can get a custom bolt made.

I may be misunderstanding but why not take the bolt with the flange and put it on a grinder and grind down the flange and smooth i with a fine file.
A lathe works good for that

@TURBO200R4 I want the broader head as well. The non-flanged bolt in the picture has a 14mm head diameter and is the size the flanged head would be after grinding down. I want the wider head that is 17.8 to 18mm wide. No one makes that head size standard except in that flanged style so that will be the route I take in the near-term.
