Is cling(saran) wrap a good way to protect a bikes finish when using an open trailer in iffy weather?
Has anyone done this?
I know you are not supposed to use a cover on a bike in an open trailer as the cover will damage the paint.
Is the cling wrap a bad idea?
I can not pull a covered trailer with my vehicle.

I wouldn't think it would be a problem... Make sure the bike is cold.
Wrap it good so it doesn't' rip... and you should be okay.
Seems like alot of trouble though...

I once wrapped my dads truck with saran wrap, I was trying to be funny since it was for sale. I told him that is all packed up for shipping. He didn't like that and whooped my but. something about it being terrible for the paint when it gets hot.

The chemicals in the plastic will leave marks on the paint but you should be able to hand buff them out.

Tire Shine

Quad guys spray tire spray on everything to make them always look new and helps when cleaning, as the mud comes off easier. I don't know if I would put it on the paint.

I've just had mine strapped down open - didn't hurt it at all... But I'll ride in ugly weather too. Maybe think of moving blankets strapped to the bike first and a cover over the blankets? When I moved it a long distance I had a guy show up and do it - not too pricey - and something to think about if you're worried about snow and salt plastered all over your baby.

The problem with any cover when moving in the open bed is the wind will get under it and want to tear it off.

Why the need to cover it?

Its a brand new R3T and I have to get it home thru slushy snow salted and sanded roads for 300 miles in an open trailer,I want to bring it home as clean as it came off the dealers floor.

It's going to get dirty eventually. I would just take it home on the open trailer, and clean it up good when you get there. It will help you get familiar with your bike. Sometimes going to extra effort is not worth it in the long run.

Rent a big enough u-haul or what ever you have in Canada, load it up and have your mates help you get it off when you get home.
