Rocket Riding in Thailand

Nirvana?

Thank you all for your kind words but I can honestly say that after living here for several years, it is not as great as one would imagine. I do love the country but many issues with a long term stay for a foreigner. I have been to Cambodia many times and a dirt bike would be the logical choice for riding there. I am still trying to get more seat time in the R3 to feel 100% comfortable with the bike. One of the upsides here is that there is a factory authorized dealer in Bangkok so qualified service is available.

Thanks again for the welcome and if anyone wants to visit and ride the R3 you are all welcome. :bch:

Ratchubri?

I work with a Scotsman who lives in Ratchubri, I think it's spelled? He just bought a Vulcan over there. I think he is about 4 hours from you by bike. He likes to take long rides when on rotation. He said he knows a British Indian who has Rocket dealership there? I would love to do a ride over there one rotation.

If Ive not said Welcome Captain, I sayit now. The far east is where I've not been in my life and would love to visit. I got close, Guam, once but failed to make the cut.
I probably couldn't handle the heat and humidity anylonger, at my age

I see you have asked questions about heat reduction, elsewhere on separate threads. We all wish you satisfaction. Welcome to the site. Cause we all know the never-ending grin the RocketIII produces. I have to have a weekly dose of salt-peeter to stay below mind boggling power lust.

There's quite an active RAT's scene in Thailand. Brit Bikes in Bkk, Phuket and Chiang Mai has chapters. There's a meet in Hua Hin next month, I'll be riding up from Singapore (about 3 days taking it easy), not on my R3 unfortunately as I just sold it. Roadster on order, delivery in February.
There are about 10-15 Rockets on the road, most owned by hi-so Thai's who like to pose around the clubs. But there's a few farangs riding too.
I was based in Bkk for 8 years, but was posted down to Singapore last year. But Brit Bikes are happy to give me a loaner (Bonnie) when I'm in town for a decent time. Let's catch up!

Welcome.

Wow, riding a huge bike in a country full of scooters, I've always wanted to do that.
We spend as much time as possible in Mexico, usually Playa Del Carmen in Quintana Roo. It's been a little dream of mine to ride the Roc down there some time, just to be the big kid on the block if you know what I mean. Living in Delaware I'll never get the wife to ride that far, she did enjoy the trip to Niagara Falls even though she will tell you her butt hurt the whole time.

The temp there must get stifling at times, of course right now I'd enjoy some hot weather. I've never been to the "east", must be very different for a visitor.

Anyway, good to have you here ... enjoy.

You'd never make there alive, HellFire, that is if anyone could catch you down there. I own property just a bit south of PDC on the island of Ambergris Cay in Belize. I also fantasized about having the only fire-breathing dragon in that whole country! the roads are a bit dicey, though.
