Here is the story behind the name. In August of 2012 I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a extremely rare potentially fatal autoimmune neuro-muscular disease. The VA decided to treat me with Pyridostigmine Bromide, the very same chemical the U.S Government gave to the troops in the first, but not second Gulf War. Although I did not know that at the time. Pyridostigmine Bromide is a related compound to Sarin Nerve Gas. The theory was it would somehow immunize the troops to Sarin Nerve Gas. They both work by jacking up the levels of Acetylcholine in the body. It was not suppossed to cross the blood brain barrier, but in me it did. I went completely insane from the very first dose because Acetylcholine is one of the major neurotransmitters in the brain and nervous system. Of course the grossly negligent totally incompetent VA Doctors didn't notice. By veterans day of 2012 I went to the VA Hospital in Portland OR to get my medicine change because I could not take the paranoid delusions and terrible physical symptoms anymore. Instead of changing my meds they put me in the Mental Hospital. While in the Mental hospital I read Sonny Barger's Hells Angel book. All that Acetylcholine in my brain made me extremely impressionable, as well as chemically induced schizophrenic. I decided to adopt the "steal your face" logo from the Grateful Dead because the Lighting Bolt through the brain is what I felt like. At that time I did not know the meds were making me insane. I thought it was the end of time because like I stated before all that Acetylcholine in my brain made me extremely impressionable, and all over the place were 2012 end of time movies and themes. I actually believed it was the end of time. I eventually discontinued the Pyridostigmine Bromide myself, and treated my Myasthenia Gravis with veterinary grade prednisone, and have been treating myself ever since. The worthless VA doctors almost killed me once, and I will not give them a second chance. I did not know I was completely crazy until after I quit taking PB.

Anyway, I decided to have my own Motorcycle Club and named the "Road Trippers". So far only myself, my son, and my wife are in the Club. How is that for a crazy story?

How are the treatments working out for you? Obviously better than the VA's mistakes, but I know that's a pretty strong steroid too. Have a few friends with autoimmune diseases who gets biweekly IVITs. But they cause other debilitating effects I know. Glad you're enjoying everything you can and your family now!! There's no way to thank you enough for your service and sacrifice, but know that it's not forgotten!

I am doing much better than I was. I know steroids have alot of negative side effects, but I am still alive. I have terrible nerve damage in my abdomen and both feet. Beside prednisone, I treat myself with vitamins and herbs, and they are somewhat effective. I walk alot to relieve pain, and set my mind at ease. Chronic pain 24/7 is hard to live with. I use medical marijuana for both nausea and tremendous anxiety from being insane for five months. I was not a marijuana user before I became ill. I am lucky I made it back mentally. I would not have been able to endure it had not been for the discipline I learned in the Marines. Nowhere on Earth teaches discipline like the U.S. Marines.

The VA wanted to convince me that surgically removing my Thymus gland would help, but I am not volunteering for any more operations. I suffered a full blown Pulmonary Embolism after a different VA operation. I also just somehow contracted Pancreatic Cancer during that time period too. I also treat it with vitamins and herbs. It is not metastatic at this time. A private practice suregon wanted to removed my Pancreas, but that would have made me diabetic too. The Pancreas produces insulin.

I don't think I could withstand more neuropathy that diabetes would produce. I pray alot, and vowed to myself I will die on the outside, not in a Hospital. I have lived and eventful and interesting life. I have saw people at their best and worst. I believe that this dimension is Hell, and that Heaven, Vahalla, or whatever a person wants to call it awaits those who suffered and endured with courage and tenacity in this life. I keep my eyes on the prize, and know that it is my own behavior that determines my own fate. The good news is I have not contracted anymore deadly disease since I left the VA in early 2013.

Thanks again. Yes, Rocket riding is a blast. Even a dying man has to have fun, or life isn't worth living.
