I will do my best to keep it interesting and I will post as much as possible for you with pictures lots of them
some background first I am a semi retired firebomber flown dc-6 and dc-4 till last year when I parted company with my neurotic boss and being 64 I doubt I will get another job firebombing. so I decided now is the time I know the alps I speak italian and french and I communicated with some captains over the net in europe
the plan goes as follow frankfurt on the 6th pick up the R3 at custom go to bad homburg and rest .
next day meet up with ralf (german R3 captain in frankfurt) ride to bad brukenau for the R3 rally . monday with niklas a swedish captain ride south to budapest and stay at a vinyard on balaton lake then alone I suppose I will go to maribor, klagenfurt , and cortina d'ampezzo in the heart of the dolomites (incredible scenery and roads) stay there a week.after that down south via bolzano and lago di garda (ferrari is not very far and ducati museum is in bologna) and visit extrem design in torino they make a wicked fairing for the R3 then to the cinqueterra area for another week the way they hang houses on the cliffs walls amazing .
then west back in the valley d'aosta and cross over into french alps riding the many high passes of which the highest road in europe (called la bonette)
and hit the riviera for a well deserved rest (I have a condo in antibes right over the water and safe parking for the bike) so french breakfast and gazillion tities on the beach to stretch the old eyeballs. then on to the heart of france in perigord near cadoin where I must deal with some nasty family affairs for two days but the roads are just so bike friendly with trees making a canopy over the asphalt it is almost a sin
then I will go south west, cross the spanish border and go to zazuar a small village near aranda del duero where a good friend is waiting for me. by then a month and a half will have gone by, shoot across spain toward barcelona and ride along the coast all the way back to antibes, some more local rides (take the ferry to corsica ride around the island for a week counterclockwise naturally to look at the sea from the edge of the road and check the calanches of Piana.. you will understand when you see the pictures.this is
another paradise on earth for bikers).
meet my WFMC friends in aix en provence in early september, they ride H-d

I will start back toward frankfurt by way of vienna to see more friends attend the fakker see H-D rally ( very big, it is the european sturgis) and see the constanz lake.
by the 24th I will be back in the airplane and the R3 with about maybe 4000 more miles in the belly of the air canada beast. so there you have an approximate routing of the summer.

what is making paradise in all of this besides the sheer beauty of the scenery is

1- short distances everywhere, no hassle by the cops unles you behave like a total moron.

2-never get stuck in traffic lane splitting is tolerated pretty much everywhere

3-park everywhere and anywhere without fear of tickets and

4-cars are a lot more aware of bikes .fact in some places (france for example they will move away so you can split lane or median . there you have it . hope I can take some good pictures for you.
