Help, can anybody advise which way up replacement oil seals go?
The workshop manual simply says to put new ones in the same way as the originals.
This does not help as the seals were already out before I got the fork legs.
I have spoken to the Triumph factory and they can't even tell me as the seals are already in when the fork legs arrive at the factory.
Thanks
Nige
Nige, I have replaced them on other USD forks and they fit with the lip and spring upwards so you cant see the spring from the outside, if that makes sense.
Thanks for the response guys, the problem with R3 seals is that they are 'doubled lipped' (spring and lip on inner and outer sides of the seal)
I have the replacement seals and on the one hand you would insert them leaving the larger surface area on the outside in order to drift them in, but on the other hand there is a tapered shoulder on the other side implying this shoulder would help start the seal into the fork sleeve.
